Sounds promising, period type pains are normally an indication that your cervix is doing stuff, probably softening ready.

Those sharp pains could be bubs head smacking into your pelvis, I use to get a really horrible pain when bubs was moving around that was a bit like an electric shock up the jacksy

I have heard that if there is pain in your back then baby could be posterior. But I have that pain on my cervix for 5 weeks as Josh was bouncing on it well engaged.

ETA: Man I need to spell check before I hit post

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Hi, my whole labour thing was a bit messed up, I went into labour at 34 weeks and 6 days, but that is because my waters broke and he was breech, I didn't end up having him till 38 weeks. I had the pains in the cervix and the period cramps between first going into hospital and then having him. I got prepped for emergency c/s 5 times but ended up having an elective. For some reason may labour would start but then stop 8-12 hours later and apart from effacing nothing else happened any of those times, hence them not giving me an emergency c/s - which I was getting pretty peed off about.

There were many strange ideas as to why my labour never progressed, only a bum engaged so not enough pressure on cervix, head rammed into fundus annoying and making my uterus irratable etc etc blah blah blah.
I personally think that my cervix was broken and couldn't open.

Sorry that didn't really help you at all.
My friend starting having niggles on a friday and had her baby on the monday, she was 1 week over due when the niggles started.

You can have pre labour niggles for weeks before labour actually starts (just check out the oct and nov due dates threads at the mo!!) Some ladies on there have been having niggles for about 3 weeks.

I had simialr niggles to you about 10 days ago, and nothing has happened yet. Had it bad in my back (baby is not posterior), and the period pain comes and goes. I think everyone in the oct/nov threads have now decided to ignore those niggles, as they kept getting their hopes up something was happening!!

Sounds exactly like the starting of my labour and I had all the pain in my back and obviously cervix! My whole labour was fully in my back near my tailbone, hardly any in my tummy and Lauren was posterior!!

Id really like this baby to hang on at least until after I have picked up the carseat from plunket..only a week away.
