This may be a dumb question but here goes, I am 4 weeks 3 days along, now does that mean I am actually IN week 5? or still week 4?
Sorry if its a stupid question I was just thinking if Im past four weeks then I must be IN week 5?
So when I look at the BabyGaga calender thing, would I now be reading week 5? Seems as Im past week 4?

I always think of it as a birthday ie if you turn 3 you are 3 years old. Then when you turn 4 you're 4. In between 3 and 4, you are still 4 years old.
Would be keen to read what others think though.
I think we are all eager for time to go by esp at the begining - first it's the 12th week mark, then 20th, then 27th (for me, so I know baby can be saved if born). I think it was only after that I relaxed with Gina.

I agree YM, you are 5 weeks when you hit the 5 week mark (M and I had a tradition of reading the up the duff chapter in bed the day after I got to each 'anniversary' so we knew what Jack was up to

on some sites it says you are in the 5th week when you are four weeks..but mostly they seem to go by week 4 meaning you are in week 4...like I am 21 weeks so I am get the 21 week update but one of my sites says I am in the 22nd week...weird!:)

When you are 4 weeks and 3 days then you are in week 5. If you were only 5 days pregnant then you would already be in your first weeks, so then when you reach 1 week 1 day, thats the start of your 2nd week.
Its really confusing aye, I have looked into this so many times between my first pregnancy and now lol

I see it like this - when you're born you're in your first year, then you turn 1 & you're in your 2nd year.
And like the centuries - in the 1900's we were in the 20th century.
So once you've hit 4 weeks you'd be into your 5th week.

yep definately.. if you are 4 wks and 3 days, you are in week 5 of pregnancy. though if baby is born early.. (hope not..) if you are 36wks and 3 days, then that's what baby is.. not "nearly 37" cos there's a bit of difference between how baby is at those stages of 36 wks and 37.
But hay, tomaytoes, tomatos... lol

GandT, even though she is 4wks 3days she has been pregnent for a full 4wks and the extra 3 days is part of the 5th week. So, she may be 4 wks pregnant but she is in the 5th week of pregnancy. It just depends how it is worded I guess. Yes it is very confusing!

I would say you are in your 4th week. Jack was born at 39 weeks 6 days (one day before dd) and they said he was 39 weeks gestation, not 40 weeks.

Yep 4w, 3d means you're in your 5th week. Just like someone else said about years, if you're 12, you're in your 13th year.

It's technically in your 5th week but often med things don't look at that so they stick with the fact that you are 4 weeks...and a bit. Anyway, the real answer to your question is that the symptoms etc from week to week vary greatly and while they can be interesting and helpful, there is usually no concern if you don't get something the say or if you get it in a different week.

i was told that if (for example) i was 4 weeks 3 days i was IN my fifth week but wasnt yet 5 weeks...
Of course i was told a lot of interesting things when i was pregnant so dont pay too much attention to me!

So I guess if I read the baby Gaga Calender i CAN read the 5 weeks page, but not everything it says "should" be happening to bubs and me in week 5 will have happened yet as Im only 4 weeks 4 days. Do I make any sense? lmao
