Topic: I got a positive test! help! Posted: 27 September 2007 at 3:58pm |
Hi, this is my first baby and hubby and I are very nervous - took a test yesterday and it was positive - period was 4 days late and im normally regular as clockwork. Just wondering from some of you more experienced mums, is this a definite 'yes' or should I wait for a bit longer before getting excited?

There (apparently) is no such thing as a false positive, just false negatives, with your late period as well it sounds pretty definite to me!
It will be free for you to get it confirmed by a Dr anyway, and they will send you for your first lot of bloods etc.
CONGRATS! and welcome to OhBaby!

Congratulations!
It is possible to get a false positive but only when taking certain medicine and you would know if that was the case.
Best of luck for a happy & healthy pregnancy!

How very cool, you'll probably be due around the 5th of June-ish, depending on the length of your cycles. Congrats (you're definitely pregnant btw), and welcome to OB

Congratulations! I was sort of in denial as well after I got a positive test... I did 3 more tests before I was ready to start believing that there was a chance that I could be pregnant, lol. When the Dr gave me the pregnancy info pack with the samply baby wipes in it, I was like "what? what do I need baby wipes for?" hehehe
Were you trying for a baby or did it just happen? What does your hubby think of it?
Congrats again

Congrats - what exciting news! Your GP can do another test to confirm if you need that extra confirmation!

hi all, yes we are both still in denial! hubby very much so, he keeps saying, well it's not definite...I showed him all your posts but I think he is too nervous to believe you all! We were kind of trying and kind of not, if you get that - just seeing what happened and letting nature run it's course. I did another one today just to make doubly sure (very cautious about telling everyone only to have it all go 'belly up') and i got another positive! I've booked myself in for a blood test at the doctors on monday, any other steps i should be taking at the moment? And wow a June baby! It's still unbelievable!

i'd get onto getting a midwife. I know in chch you need to book one basically straight away to get one you want.
Good luck for monday

Oh and when do I start my pelvic floor exercises - and how do you do them?? I've heard you have to get onto them early or disatrous 'poise' moments occur for the rest of your life!
