Topic: Kisses and cuddles Posted: 06 September 2007 at 9:17pm |
When do kids start to give you kisses and cuddles? I can't wait for that day! We have laughs and playful bashes (Elle to me not the other way round!!) but no cuddles or kisses yet.

Hmmm sorry I can't remember. I guess it is not so much an age thing but personality and routine. We do kisses and cuddles right before bed and sometimes when we play. When we read we snuggle up etc as well. Both my girls were doing kisses and cuddles randomly through the day (not often) by about 2yrs I think, Briona has been for a few months but I don't know how much of that is just because she is 2nd oldest and copying Hannah.
We've noticed different preferences though. Hannah and I both would much rather talk and don't have as high a need for touch and cuddles as my DH and Briona. When Briona comes into our bed in the morning, the first thing she says is "guddle" and if I comply half-pint (ie just fling my hand on top of her and can't be bothered!) she pulls my hand around her body properly and says "guddle" authoritatively and nods her head ("THIS is the way to do a guddle") LOL!

My girls do cuddles, they lie their heads on my shoulder and go "ahhhhhh" and I say "ahhh nice cuddles", it's so cute. Funny thing is we were watching Maya's first birthday party on video the other day and in the video she does the exact same thing with my mum so now she keeps saying "I taught them chubbies to do aaah nice cuddles."
But no idea about kissing, I know we have a pic of one of the other babies at daycare kissing Maya, Maya was about 6 mths old lying on the floor and the other baby was about 18 mths or so I guess?

i have a journal entry on gabriels web page dated may 05, so he would have been 1.5 perhaps and that mentions the cuddles and i think they had only started about then. the kisses came later i think, those weird open mouth baby kisses, eeewwww, so yucky and cute and funny.

Kahtrell gives me kisses......except its with his mouth open, so maybe he's just trying to eat me lolz. I'm always giving him kisses and cuddles. But yea I'm pretty sure he's giving me kisses and cuddles...even if I am getting slobbered all over!.

Benjy learned kisses a couple of months ago. I go "kiss mummy" and get an open mouthed slobber from him.
He's only just started giving cuddles and it is so cute!!

Maddie does cuddles kinda like Emma's girls do...it's very cute, she started that properly in the last few weeks. She also occassionally does the wierd open mouth thing which I think passes for a kiss.

Addison does kisses and cuddles for a while now although she still gives sloppy open mouth kisses. So funny when she keeps trying to kiss open and he doesnt want them, she doesnt give up until she gets one! My friends wee girl was never a really cuddle girl though.

Rhyley will 'snuggle' into me and I say cuddles - like Emmas kids do. and he'll pat my back (a habit I have taught him as I do it too) he has given me a 'kiss' a few times but its more like hes trying to eat me with his mouth wide open on my cheek rather than a proper kiss.

Ella isn't into snuggles (in fact, her daddy and I used to stretch out her burping after her dream feed because she'd sleep with her head on your shoulder, and that was the cuddliest she ever got... yep, we had to wait until she was asleep!!) but has just started (11mths old) snuggling in for about 2 or 3 seconds at a time when I'm carrying her.
She baby-pashes my cheek though - it's messy. She also pashes the oven door - weird hobby.

Taine TODAY started giving a kiss when i asked (he did offer his head previously), but now opens his mouth, kisses and says "aaah" - kinda like you do if you are thirsty and have a drink of beer.

ella isnt the cuddliest bubba BUT she knows when she snuggles into me head on chest and puts her arms up to my neck that i say "aahhh mummy cuddles" or "oh ella cuddles for mummy?" and she giggles.
She also now throws an arm up when she cuddles and also does a open mouth kiss. She also leans into us and we kiss her neck and cheek etc going "mmmm kisses for ella" and she loves that....
so I say shes been doing all this for more than a month now with or for a response

I reckon dream feeds saved my babies lives when they were tiny. They were so sleepy and cuddly and lovable and cute that it made me forget that I'd spent all day wanting to wring their necks for screaming all the time!

Olivia learned how to kiss at around 8-9 months old and I made the noise and gave her a kiss goodnight before she went to sleep. She just started kissing Hubby goodbye and random family after that

Can't remember how old Jack was but he was not a very cuddly baby so i think it was past one for cuddles. He was kissing before that tho but they were a very open mouthed, lots of tongue kiss. I do remember he used to grab the sides of my head and kiss lol.
He is a real cuddler now tho. Does she cuddle when shes sick? She sounds like a really headstrong wee thing but i'm sure the cuddles will come

I cant actually remember when McKayla started at all. Asked hubby and he also doesnt know. She was just a real cuddly baby from the beginning. Wanted to be hold and loved kisses all over. From the time she could roll over she would roll until she is close to you and blow bubbles on your tummy ect. From the moment she could hold onto you she just hugged tight. We always called her our little primate as she just looks like this little monkeys that cling to the mommy.

We've had more of the little moments where she puts her head down on my shoulder and I've officially decided that they are cuddles. So sweet
