I bought some of the sachets (trial ones) from the supermarket first. Elle seems to drink any of them.
We use Karicare (the normal light blue one), changed for a week to Nuture gold, because she is very spilly on Karicare (and she was never a spilly bub before that), but have recently changed back because the Nuture was making her constipated. Poor Bubba! Decided would definately rather a spilly bub than an upset constipated bub.
Started using the Karicare purely because I knew the brand.

We give Daniel a bottle at night.. we tried karicare (light blue one) and it made him super windy to the point where he would be crying for hours in pain..
He's now using nuture gold and it's awesome, no spills or wind.

We use the Karicare Gold Plus here. It's the best one I can find for Sam, no constipation and no wind. He's a wee bit spilly on it, but all the other ones gave him chronic constipation. As someone else said, a bit of spill is preferable to having a baby screaming in pain and pooing rocks.

We are on the Karicare Gold plus (yes, the one that's getting pulled out ) but it agrees with Gina really well and I'm not changing! We chose the Karicare because it's what Gina had in hospital before my milk come in so it was a familiar taste.
You would really need to try a formula for a week or so before you find out how they react as it takes their little bodies time to adjust.
ETA: from what I understand it's also not a good idea to switch too often.

With Andrew he was on S26 (I have since been told that one is the closest to BM - but i'm still not sure it thats true). He went on that at 3 weeks old. Josh has just started having the odd bottle during the day and is on the Nurture one.
Best advice I can give is get a few packet of one, see how she goes. If fine stay with it, if not get a few packets of a different one and see with that.

I have used the Karicare light blue formula with of my kiddos and they have been perfect on it (switched to the dark blue follow on one at 6mths old). No constipation and only minimal spillage.

I got in a real tizzy trying to decide which formula tro use with Rohan as BF was a nightmare.
We used Nurture Gold and it was a little unsettling for a few days while hge adjusted but since then he has been fine. I know its the most expensive one but it's not that different in price to the other ones and it is on special every now and then.
We did switch to Karicare Gold for one tin to see if it made any difference but I think they are all similar quality - it's just finding the one that suits your baby. Bit like picking a brand of coffee really!

Thanks for all your replies.. we were going to buy it last night but iv decided to hold out untill monday and have a chat to my midwife.. im just kinda afraid to tell her i wanna go to formula, cos when i started seeing her and she asked if i was gunna go breast or bottle and i said i want to try b/f if i can, she said quite firmly 'oh you will'
as if to say breast is the only way..

My midwife did the same to me! She just said 'Oh you will breastfeed'. I went ahead and put Sam on formula anyway and when she came for her visit I just lied and said I was still expressing. I know this is probably the worst advice ever but I would get the formula, alternate between bottle and breast and to hell with the midwife. In all honesty, you'll probably only see her a couple more times and then never see her again and she won't give it another thought whether you're breastfeeding or bottle feeding. The guilt doesn't last long I promise!!

IMO she's not a good mw if she puts you down or makes you feel bad about giving kylah formula! would she rather kylah have an upset mummy and go hungry??
we use karicare, just the standard one and did so with jack too. i have used nurture a couple of times when there was no karicare in stock and charli's spills would always look like cottage cheese neither of them made her less spilly but i'd prefer a milk spew than a cheesy one
as the other ladies have said, try her on a few sachets and see how she goes. if no good, try a different brand.
did you get in touch with la leche league? they maybe able to help you sort out the bf thing if you wanted to

I know exactly what you mean but its hard enough without smeone laying on the guilt trip.. shes calling me today so will tell her then if i dont chicken out.. i havent ompletly made up my mind, i think in my eyes i just want to be able to do it.. but Kylah is SOO unsettled after b/fing and if i give her EBM in a bottle then she is out like a light so easy.. but it takes me 2 days just to express enough for a bottle..

I fely realy guilty for swapping Rohan to formula but he is much happier on it and you know how much he is getting. If you have partly breastfed then good for you - he's had the colostrum which is the important bit.
If you midwife gives you a hard time then she is not doing her job properly!
Do what's best for you and your baby - you know what's right so listen to what suits you not the opinions of a old fashioned midwife!
