Hi all,

For all those ladies have had/ are having babies, how did your DP's/DH's react when you told them you were pregnant? Was watching a show called a baby story and this one father had a very funny reaction which just made me think. Both times i told DP he was just speechless with smiles.

Hehe. When pregnant with #1 DP went into shock. Although it was to be expected the relaity of being pregnant scared him lol. He went out to his man cave(garage) for an hour

With this baby he was pretty happy. Still went into shock a bit but got over it alot quicker.

I think for him there is a difference in just trying for a baby and then actually knowing you are going to have one is a bit scary. But it is scary so i dont blame him lol

Haha First time I did the HPT right before bed and I told him to which he said 'really!' dont think he slept very well (just shock we had been trying for about 13 months) and second time i woke him up in the morning and asked if he could see the line or was it just me? He held it to the light and said 'yeah, i see it' then went and made a coffee lol Not a man of many words lol but i know how excited he was both times

DH was great - i greeted him at the window where he parks his ute with a grin asking him to come inside first (he normally lets the dogs out on his way inside). Once inside I asked him to check the bathroom (I'd left the test on the vanity) he knes straight away. All i got was a 'thats good aye!' lol hows that for an understatement.
Though he kept going into the bathroom to check during the evening, at one point he asked what 3 lines meant - twins? Lucky he was only teasing but twins run in my family so its not that funny (I'm quite small, just like our house)

Hah, my ex was at work and i rang him telling him to get his butt down to my place - we'd had a raging party the night before where my flatmate had accidentally drunk the cigarette butt beer bottle and had been throwing up since - he thought the flatmate had died or was choking on vomit so came down with another member of staff who was st johns! I was outside holding a cigarette and flicking my lighter knowing i couldnt smoke it but really really wanting to and i thrust the stick at him, he had no idea what it was, i was too wound up to explain and the st johns guy had to interpret! messy and awkward!

Hehe, my DP went very quiet and I'm quite glad I told him it was possible I was pregnant the first time while walking into town so he had something to concentrate on doing (very unexpected baby).

And for the 2nd he was cleaning the oven at the time and snapped at me cause I was getting in the way, plus we were both convinced it would take ages and he was hoping it would take longer.

ETA: the second time round he wouldn't believe that the test at home was "good enough" so I had to go to the doctors that very day to double check, all they did was give me another test to pee on...... It looked EXACTLY the same as the one I just did at home lol.

Kiara is 3 and Teagan is 2, now we're expecting our long awaited 3rd!

My DH just said 'oh, well dont get your hopes up until you go to the doctor'...and then went on to be really casual about it all (meanwhile, after only one month of ttc, i was in shock - didnt think it would happen so quick)

Once I had been to my gp and confirmed he was really excited and later told me he was just trying to not get his own hopes up early on

My poor guy found out through an email! lmfao...I did the test about 5 in the morning when getting ready for work....went in the room and woke him up...told him to go back to sleep...this happened a couple times...went in the bathroom and cried (scared what my mum would think)...went to work and sent an email. I think I'll be more personal next time lol. He was stoked though.....wanted a baby for ages.

He pushed me into testing given I was sent home from work for gagging and having to run away and vomit if someone was buying pet food or raw fish (i was a checkout operator)
But when I did the actual test his reaction was exactly one suitable to post on here but the basis of it was "but your on the depo and we had sex like once cos of all the bleeding you had"
but once that wore off quickly and he got excited.
he woke me up out of no-where the night it was confirmed by midwife to tell me baby was going to be called Lukah

Scared, nervous, excitement... Very mixed reaction! Mainly because we were both just shy of turning 19 and he was scared his parents would kill him! But once we told family etc he was very excited!

#1 was more or less of an 'oh #$%^, what are we going to do now' (he wasnt ready for baby and at 19 I wasnt either, but due to personal beliefs there wasnt much else I could do!)

#2 DP thought he was 'the man' and sent his mum a text immediately after I rang him with the news (we'd been trying for some time, had 2 early mc's and had been told less than 2 months earlier that we'd need to go on the IVF waiting list)

#3 and I quote "You're s#$%ting me!" after only 8 months TTC neither of us expected to have concieved just yet given how long it took to get DD! He was thrilled and held off all of 3 days before telling everyone (so much for agreeing to wait til after scan! His family weren't too impressed as they were expecting me to return to work)

DF reaction for number one when I told him I think Im pregnant was "You better be"

The second time was "serious thats awesome" however the reaction was the funnniest when he found out we were having twins he went into shock and kept saying things like "so that means double presents at birthdays" and "that means double uniforms when they start school"

He was so funny the night of the scan but the news has sunk in now!!

With McKayla: He was sitting at the computer and I told him the test was positive and he said Oh and continued on with his things. Told him again and he said we will have to wait and see first. Tried to tell him it was different. And he said we should wait. (we had a few mc's before this.). He is the one that made an apointment with the Dr for us. But then two days later I start with bleeding and I got negative and he was the one that turned around and as positive and told me that I told him that this time is different. And it was.

With Andrew: I called him at work as McKayla told us that I am pregnant. I took a test to show her that I wasnt and I was shocked to see it was. Grant was laughing that I first of all took a test to prove to our girl that she is wrong and second of all that I had to apologize to our girl. Much happier the second time around.

Our first was IVF, so much as you'd expect. Our second, it was actually me that was away with the fairies - he made me buy a test and do it (made me get a 3 pack too - what a waste of money ), I b*ggered around a half a day before doing it (obviously, I wasn't pregnant so no rush ) then I did it upside down and cheerfully announced he was wrong-burger, before realising that there were no lines at all (it was a pee in the cup one, and I stuck the stick in upside down ) ... so I b*ggered around for another day before doing another one that came up with 2 veeery clear lines. It took about another 2 weeks to sink in after that

with our first, it was a bit of a shock, we had only started trying less than 2 weeks before I took test. I was so nervous I got my friend to look at test and tell us. I just sat there in shock and DH got up and went out and bought a 3 pack of tests and made me do another 2 before he was sure. Then he was so excited.
With our second pregnancy he was really happy and giggly. Unfortunately that one ended in m/c
So with our third he was really blase, and didn't get excited until we were about 20 weeks.
