Topic: Any more tips? Posted: 07 November 2010 at 5:44pm |
Hi ladies, yes I am back and ready to give it all another go. Still feeling quite disappointed, we have been TTC for about 2.3 years now, just had a bit of a break this last month and yeah I was kind of hoping that would work but it hasn't. We have had all tests done everything is normal no pcos or anything. So why have we not succeeded yet .
Does anyone have any more tips, DH doesn't want to go medical so it is all on us. Everywhere we look there are new bellies and babies popping up everywhere. Is there any herbal remedies we could try?

I'd be tempted to give vitex a go if i was you... your temps look a little erratic so it may help stabilise your hormones if they need it... It has been referred to as a herbal kinda clomid, so if DH isn't keen to try a medical route it could be a good alternative. You can get it at healthfood shops for about 20-30 dollars...

I wish I had the answers. I have been trying for 4yrs to have one more. I am putting it down to weight & age. I have not been interested in doing anything medical as I have kids.
I can not remember you history, sorry. So I take it you have blood test through out your cycle to make sure you are ov. I would get your Dr to get you to do them for several months.
Chart so you can see an OV pattern & get you timing right, do OPK's, do temps daily.
I agree with freckle about your temps, try vaginal temping.

thanks jazzy, yeah sorry I come and go when I give up I disappear lol. Am going to start temping again from next cycle. Had blood tests for two cycles (maybe get Dr to do it for longer?) I know there was one cycle where I OV'd later than usual. I have another appointment with her next week so will see how that goes.

We are going to try horny goats weed, both of us are going to take it. Google has heaps of info on it but its meant to help mens little guys (also meant to act like a natural viagra!)
even if DH dont need help with them its meant to help you have more sex and that cant be a bad thing

You could also try going to a naturopath and seeing what they can suggest. Mine put me onto some awesome prenatal vitamins which may have helped us get UTD after nearly 3 years of TTC with unexplained infertility. You can buy them online but I'd recommend going to a professional for advice on which ones will help you. Check out this NFM
I agree with Jazzy about getting monthly BT to check your hormone levels and whether you are actually ov'ing. That's how they (finally) figured out that I didn't have "good quality" ovulation = Clomid = BFP!
GL and FX for you chick

Thanks Anja, I was talking to a friend of mine is has just been on clomid and she has suggested acupuncture so I'm going to go and check it out tomorrow and I will mention to my dr about the BT's as well and see if we can sort something out.

I'm going to second the naturopath route rather than just trying vitex etc yourself. That way you know you are on the right herbs to sort out your hormones. I can recomend Mother-well I have found them great and I do acupuncture through them too.

Ok cool, just seems odd that you never had probs before and now you are right? How frustrating! Have you tried low dose aspirin? That can help with implantation if the problem is that the egg is fertilising but not sticking IYKWIM?

it is very frsutrating, what does the aspirin do?
I have often wondered if the swimmers have met the eggs on several occassions and it just isn't sticking??? It was when I had a few bad AF's on those occassion it was quite sore and had quite a few clots but then I just figured it was my imagination??

Others probably know more than me but in simple terms it is meant to improve blood flow which can then improve the uterine lining.
Shezzey put a good link in the infertility section a while ago about natural options. Have a read of this, although it is pretty long!

so I went to the health shop and I looked at the vitex BUT my cycles are pretty normal the only thing abnormal about them is the erratic temps so I thought I had better talk to my dr before getting it so I got something else instead. I got some Blackmores Pre-conception. It has:
Folic Acid
Vit B2
Vit B1
Zinc
Selenium
Vit B5
Vit B12
Fish oil
Vit E (a biggie for me with my med history)
Vit D3 and few others
It looks pretty good, so raced home called my dr, and mentioned about Vitex and what I grabbed instead. She said she wouldn't think Vitex would do much for me (she has seen my charts)and wouldn't be good for my cancer history. she said start taking these vitamins I got today and from next cycle onwards for a few months she will do blood tests to make sure I'm ovulating when I'm meant to etc etc but she said we will talk about it in more detail when I go in on Thursday, she mentioned clomid and I said if we did go down that road that we couldn't afford the monitored cycles so I guess I will just see what happens with these blood tests etc and see what she says.

Have you had internal ultrasound around when you are ovulating to check that the follicles are the right size...in fact I think I went a few days in a row to check growth.
We also did the testing to see if DHs little swimmers were swimming in my CM...man that was a hoot (not).
