Topic: salt vs sweet Posted: 20 August 2009 at 8:03am |
Has anyone ever heard the old wives tale that if you crave sweet you'll have a girl and spicy/salt you'll have a boy? Well I don't believe in old wives tales but I thought it would be interesting to know what ladies crave...Personally I had a reeaaaallly sweet tooth before I got preggo...I would have chocolate at least every 2nd day...but since I got preggo I am off it and looove salt and viniger potato chips, and even plain salted ones would do. And I have been told not to eat meat pies...and I so crave a good pie...

During both pregnancies I couldn't eat sweet stuff or I would feel unwell afterwards - I tried numerous times but it never improved!! I had a sweet tooth before pg and I am making up for it now.
So I craved salty things during both pg and had 2 boys!

Both of my pregnancies I have craved pretty much the same things, strawberry milk, vegemite on toast, dried mango, filet of fish (at the beginning). And I have had a girl and am now carrying a boy.

Last time I craved both (even better if it was together) and I had a girl.
Be interesting to see this time.

Both pregnancies I've craved salty and savoury foods like chips and burgers and curry and yep, both boys!
I don't think I've felt like anything sweet for ages!

i have craved sweet foods the whole way through so far and am having a boy.
Although, I have also craved savoury foods - things like savoury muffins, yummo. I wonder if that means anything?

I craved sour stuff last pregnancy but this time it's more salty and sweet so it will be interesting to see what we're having.
Incidently you can buy the Big Ben pies from the freezer of your supermarket and heat them up yourself if you like so they're piping hot. It's the ones that are kept in the warming cabinets you'd need to avoid.

Kinda true in my case, I craved sweet with Savannah, and salty savoury spicy stuff with Austin. Im slightly confused with this one though, as my craving changes from sweet to salty in the case of an hour!!! So will definitely be interesting to find out what number 3 is!!!

True in my case too, Jack was savoury, Caprece was sweet. Funnily enough I put on way more weight with Caprece haha.

I am usually more a savoury person, but I am totally into anything sweet now! One of the giveaways for me was that I used to prefer peanut butter or vegemite on toast but ever since I've been pregnant, all I want is jam & more jam!
I find out next week so will be interesting to see!

I used to love chocolate and lollies but once I became pregnant I couldnt eat anything sugary, at all... I craved salt, salt and more salt... I didnt want the chips, I just wanted to lick the salt off, so weird!
And we are having a boy
I have just started getting back into sweet things, but in small doses, and am not crazy craving salt anymore, just lots of veges... Pregnancy is a funny thing...

Hmmm interesting when I was pregnant with DD I craved pineapple lumps and jet planes and with DS I craved tomatos and salami so I guess its true.
If it is right, then I will be having a boy as anything sweet sets off my nausea and I have been living off savory things.

I couldn't stand sweet stuff through both my pregnancies - went off chocolate and icecream I craved lemons and vinegar and anything salty.
Obviously I ended up with 2 girls so broke those rules....
