I was just wondering if anyone knows the average time for MS to really kick in??

Im 5 weeks 4 days and ive had a couple of bouts of mild MS, i woke a couple of nights in a row with it and every now and then i feel a teeny bit seedy but besides that i feel really normal every day besides my really sore boobs...............it makes me nervous to not be riddled with symptoms

Be thankful!!! That's what everyone said to me. Apparently you're supposed to get it twice as bad with twins, but the worst I got was feeling nauseous if I didn't eat, and the worst weeks for me personally were between weeks 4-6. I have never thrown up, for which I will be eternally grateful. Some women are just lucky - it certainly hasn't affected my pregnancy in any way, if I didn't have the big belly thing going on and the lack of AF so far this year, I wouldn't even believe I was pregnant.   I get reflux quite badly, and have started swelling up, but they're not restricted JUST to pregnancy, so I can't even use them as pregnancy symptoms!!

Oh...the only thing that has been a constant ever since I ovulated was the sore boobs...they're still sore now, though thankfully not AS sore.

Its weird though cos i got MS quite bad with DS2 and mildly with DS1........I think DS2 the main reason i got it was because it was about this same time i had jumped on a plane to be with my friend through a tough time after her bf killed himself and then when i got back 2 days later my other boy came over from nz on hols and i needed injections at 6 weeks to stop me from being sick. So i think it came down to being extremely exhausted (more so than the normal pregnancy exhaustion)

OMG my boobs are prob making up for the rest right now!! They are just too big and too sore right now.......i cant wait til they settle down as i just find them so uncomfortable........even when im at the pools and swim a little bit too vigorously which isnt much as i do breast stroke, they hurt......lol
I have switched over to non underwire and that makes them feel worse!!!

When my sonographer asked if I had MS, and I said no, she promptly responded with "do you have sore boobs" to which I replied "heck yes" with quite a bit of feeling....her reply was "oh that's good then" as if the sore boobs made up for the lack of MS. I just stayed grateful that I never throw up - I have this immense dislike of puking, even other people doing it, and it was the thing I looked forward to least....so when it didn't happen, I merely thanked my lucky stars.

And remember each pregnancy is different too. You said you got it mildly with DS1, so it may be the same this time, at some stage - some people say their MS kicked in at around 6 weeks onwards so yeah.

With my DD i got ms from weeks 8-10, just felt puky but no vomitting,

My first mc i got ms from weeks 7-10 again mainly just felt sick.

Last pregnancy i got it from about 4.5 weeks to 11weeks urgh.

I hope you are just one of those people who don't get ms (soooo lucky) and at least with sore boobs you don't have to keep feeling them to make sure they are sore I think with my DD i was a serial boob squeezer (only my own though)

With #1 - I had no symptoms of preg at all - No MS, no sore boobs, nothing.

With #2 - MS started at about 5-6 weeks and is still going! Am over it! Still have random spews. No sore boobs though.

Urgh ms!

I got it badly from about 6weeks to about 16/17 weeks - spewing at least once daily, often twice and when I say spew I mean mega hurling, was absolutely gross and has put me off pg again (sorry TMI)  When I wasn't being sick  felt like I was literally about to...all day and night. I am not exagerating either- I think there wasanother May Mummy who had something very similar actually. Kitkat maybe?  In hidsight I should've gone to he Dr but I just didn't think of itat the time. If there ever is a next time (BIG if), I will do that!

It abated about week 17/18 but I still felt pretty seedy alot of the time- esp when tired- up till the 3rd trimester. The latter half of this trimester has been the 'best' I"ve felt...it's all relative though lol.

You are soooooooooo lucky to not be getting ms..it's no indicater btw of how sticky your pg is; I've had it just as bad before and m/c so I think it's just how individuals react to HCG.

On a bighter note I didn't get paticularly sore boobs lol.

Louise...maybe the lack of morning sickness is a sign you are having a girl hahahahaha! I know some people think that the amount of morning sickness is a sign either way!

I have only been feeling sick at night or after eating something blurgh but not throwing up and would be quite content if it carried on like this. hehe

With number 1 ms was pretty much from conception to birth, vomiting at least once a day, plus nausea all day every day, plus had a really bad issue with smells (things that didn't smell strong to others I couldn't be in the same room as ) had to change all deoderants, toothpaste, toilet cleaner, body wash, cat food, (still can't do catfood) dish washing stuff....basically everything!

With number 2 normal range of ms kicked in about week 4 and lasted till week 14, then came back from week 17 to week 20, then nothing after that at all.

First was a girl, second was a boy!

Mine started at 4 weeks (the day i found out) and stopped the same day I had a scan at 7and a half weeks. I believe a lot of my morning sickness was more nerves than anything.

The only thing that helped was sucking on barley sugars from the moment I woke up, until about lunch time. I was usually able to stomach small amounts of food by then. Howwever I had random days where I could eat normally from morning tea onwards.

I think that is a bit of a wives tale, the more MS the stronger the pregnancy but from what ive read on here it seems to be that it doesnt matter cos someone can have strong MS and still MC...........so hmmmm theres just no nice reassuring things along this 12 week wait

I agree Chickielou - there are so many different stories about MS... I think you can look at it with some common sense. It most likely all just dependant on how your body is placed to deal with hormone changes at the time.

For whatever reason (and I also feel like a bit of a cheat) I have had no MS whatsoever. There have been the odd occasions that I feel slightly queasy if I get too tired and hungry, so I haven't really allowed that to happen. I have had my 12 week scan and all looks great.

I have one friend who recently went on a drip in hospital she was so sick, and another who vomited every day from 4-17 weeks. It's nasty, and I feel so lucky that I haven't had to deal with that this time, but I possibly will with future PG's.

It's kind of pot luck.

I agree with the olds wives tale - with the baby i m/ced i was sick from about 3 weeks and throwing up every morning.

With this one, i didint get m/s until 7-8 weeks, hasnt been that bad except when i am rushing in the mornings. Unfortunatly tho it is still going

With Sam I started feeling sick around 5-6 weeks and it lasted until about 19 weeks! I was throwing up most days and could literally do nothing except lie still and concentrate on breathing and not being sick.   I started to throw up again at about 32 weeks every day at 2PM and that last until nearly the end.

This time my m/s didn't start until after 7 weeks and so far I've only thrown up once. It's not nearly as bad as my first pregnancy and *touch wood* I have felt pretty good over the last couple of days other than when I first wake up and need to eat straight away.    I am hoping that I continue to feel better as m/s is bad enough without having an energetic toddler to look after all day!

Hey girls, I'm new here :) Morning sickness started around 6 weeks for me this time round same as last time, and went until about 14 weeks, so I am counting down. It is just awful I am trying to sleep away alot of the days and nights to try and make the time go quicker but is hard when you have a husband, 6 yr old and a work from home business to keep running.   It's all day too constantly yuk!

PS I need a ticker :)
