How many of you had quite definite signs leading up to when they finally went into labour? Like did you all lose you mucous plug well before hand and did you have days of irregular contractions?
Just wondering cos I've had several nights where I've had some definite contractions (as opposed to BH's) but I've only had them a couple of times and that is the only sign of anything progressing. So I'm thinking that I must be ages off. Not that I really mind lol.
Thanks!

I did, I had a night of definite contractions 2 nights before the real thing woke me up. I didn't have my waters break or loose my plug though.

I had nothing, only mild (as in could barely notice it ) back ache .
I was just sitting, minding my own business, playing barbies with my sister and all of a sudden , a contraction hit .(what are the odds! 8 days over and getting contractions ! har har)
my waters broke and my mucous plug came out whilst i was in established labour , i thought "meh , well thats a waste of time "

I had really runny poos the night before then I lost my mucous plug overnight or first thing in the morning (it was there when I woke up) I also went off food completely, couldn't eat anything all day, and then at 9am I started getting back pain and really hot, that developed into mild contractions. By 5pm I was in established labour and shortly after 8pm I was holding my baby.
ETA: my waters broke spontaneously at about 5:40pm (while I was on my way to hospital). I was about 4cm dilated when my waters broke.

I've been curious about this too. My mum is coming down from Akl and we're really hoping she can be here for the birth. There's no point booking flights as she's coming for a few weeks but bubs could be born the day she's due to fly home lol.

I didn't lose my plug and my midwife broke my waters. I was just unsettled and I had a couple of nights of BH and didn't get much sleep. I was just generally more uncomfortable.

My plug came out a fortnight before! So even when you do lose it, it's not a sign labour's imminent! Then I had a couple of days of contractions before the real thing hit (and even then when I rang my midwife I was like "I wouldn't put money on it, but I think I might be in labour" until my waters broke). I think I'll know second time around

I no signs before Labour either- my waters had to get broken while I was in the hospital and I didn't lose my plug (my friend lost hers a couple of days before she went into labour, so I keep waiting for it to happen...). Just woke up at midnight with mild contractions and knew staight away that this was the day.

I had a show up to three days before going into labour; waters broke after labour was established - twice manually. I had on/off contractions for a month with Kryssi

With Leah I was off my food the night before, had a runny tummy and had a show. Waters broke at 3am and started having contractions straight away. She was born emergency CS at 2.20pm.
With Joel, nothing until my waters broke at 1am, then established labour by 2.30am, fully dialated by 8am, and 3 hrs of pushing ending in a forceps delivery at 11.04am.
Had been hospitalised 10 days before Joel was born with a pain on my CS scar and very high BP, but those mild contractions were nothing compared to when I was in labour properly.

I had no plug, no waters breakin but the day before I had irregular contractions all day. they were about 12 min apart most of the day but were mild. We were walking and when one hit I would just have to slow down a little and then catch up later. When I went to bed at 9pm I got a couple that were closer and thought "hello" so I got up to distract myself and started timing them. They quickly went to 5min apart. At about 11pm I got DH up as I was sure I was timing them wrong. They went to 3 min apart and ouchy by 3am when we headed to the hospital. tom was born at 6pm!!!!
I'm worrying about it this time as we need to drive 2.5 - 3hrs to get to the hospital.

I dont remember the mucous plug although they talked about it heaps at the antenatel classes.
I do remember the mw on the thursday questioning my BH's & they had been the same for days, but on the friday I remember going to work, last day, with a definite change in them, they were 20 mins apart all day. I remember getting up Sat morning & going to the loo with runny No.2's and going back to bed & then getting woken by a painful BH, they were still quite far apart but they had definite rises & falls in pressure to them, they carried on like that all day, bath didn't start them or stop them & they just got progressively sorer & my back sorer as the day went on. & then I went into full established labour at the hospital & the MW broke my waters.
So basically completely different to what we'd learned.

I had regular contractions for 2 weeks (between 20-30 mins apart all the time), and I was monitored daily as I wasn't progressing. Then all of a sudden bang, he just tried to fall out, mucous plug came out, 2 mins later waters broke (leaking though, not fully gush), heavy contractions started 30 mins later and were 90 seconds long, 2 mins apart I only lasted 45 mins at home before heading to hospital, but was only 3cm! That's posterior babies for you though.
Having said all of this, I 'dropped' on Christmas day which can be a sign for first pregnancies that labour is imminent in the next week. I went into the 2 week part of labour 2 days later.
Oh, and just remembered that from Christmas eve until the 27th when labour began, my bowel movements did change. When my waters broke, I had diarrhoea and vomitting, good to flush out the system while still in the comfort of your own home IYKWIM.

My first sign of going into labour was my waters breaking (on the toilet thank goodness) at 3am, my contractions started an hour later. Jack was 8 days early

I had heaps of false labour in the 2 weeks I was over, so each time I got a twinge or contractions or whatever I just wasnt sure if it was the real thing.
Then my waters broke at 2am and I knew it was the real thing lol, it was so gross haha, felt like I was peeing my pants for 2 days(I was in labour start to finish nearing 48 hours).
