So after my frustration at not being able to feed Hannah at night al week and DH's tummy bug, leaving me about 12 hours worth of broken sleep since Monday...
This happens:
I got Hannah down at 10:15 last night and get into bed myself. DH was still feeling pretty lousy so he was going to sit up for a little bit longer and drink some water.
Next thing I know I'm being woken up by him at 1:30.
"Charlotte! Wake up!"
"Huh? What's up??" (I'm listening to see if I'd slept through Hannah's cries - I can hear her snoring!)
"I need your help?"
(I'm thinking maybe the house was flooding again, since it had been raining)
"What's up?"
"I need to go to the hospital"
"OK! I'm up! What's wrong!!"
(meanwhile, I"m throwing pants and shoes on and grabbing nappies and stuff).
He told me he had excrutiating pain down one side and was dizzy and sweating like a pig. He had his keys in his hand and was making for the door.
I'm like, err....I need to get Hannah, hold on..."
He just said "Call Mum, look after Hannah" and took off!!
I frantically text him to tell me when he'd got there (he could barely walk - how could he drive!!).
5 mins later he text (1:45) so I called MIL, trying my hardset not to cry! She came over 10 mins later. She made us both a cuppa while we waited to hear from DH.
Finally, at 2:30 I get a text to say "I'm on morphine". So we jumped in the car and raced up there.
We get to the ED to find his car parked right out front in the 5 min parking space hehe (MIL later moved it so it didn't get towed).
We get in there and he's as pale as a sheet, talking to the doctor.
DH gives a urine sample and it's full of blood!
Kidney stones are suspected! OUCH!
He went off for an x-ray, nothing could be seen, but they don't always show up.
His blood tests all came back clear, so there's nothing sinister there.
He was hooked up to saline and he started to come right within half an hour.
By 5:30 MIL went home and said to call her if we needed anything. DH was given some oral painkillers and a script for more if the pain got worse.
He felt millions of times better after the painkillers, so at 6:15 we took off under the instructions to try the painkillers if the pain worsens and make an appointment with the GP to get a referral for a CT scan.
The doctor thinks the dehydration from the tummy bug aggravated the stones (which will have been there for a while).
More often than not they dissolve on their own, otherwise he has no choice but to pass them
Poor DH! However, now that he's better I'm allowed to say:
I'm feeling rather ripped off, because Hannah slept until 4:30, then again from 5:30 and she's still going!!!
On the plus side, MIL is coming over today to do housework and Hannah-sit while DH and I get some rest
I haven't seen DH since we got hom from hospital, but he's still sleeping, so that's a good sign
Now I just need Hannah to wake up so I can feed her and put us all back to bed
