Right, where do I start lol

I'm a bbw and have some issues with my size. To give you a rough idea I am about 5'8 and weigh around 113kg. I have already had 3 children, youngest 8 yrs! Over the years I have tried to lose weight but it soon goes back on.

Anyway, sometimes I feel like I am the only bbw out there trying for a baby! I already have the overhang tummy and feel I look pregnant already! Especially when I look at the pics in the pregnancy section and see all the beautiful tummys.

I am trying to tone up with going to the gym when I can, but its not very often at the moment due to other committments. And also eating less.

Are there other ladies out there who are bbw and ttc that can relate to how I feel?

I'm not TTC anymore lol (EVER!) but I was for 13 mths with the gremlins and conceived them at 105kg. I was super fit, running 5km 3 times a week, but I'm just doomed to be heavy I think (I am MUCH heavier now 2 1/2 babies later!)

PS. Aside from my OB giving me a hard time about my weight at the initial visit, and being too heavy for his scales at my final visit (I tipped the scales at 136kg at full term!) my weight didn't cause any issues with pregnancy or delivery.

Thanks for your reply Maya. I think there is a steriotype out there that you must be thin to get pregnant. Yes, its advisable to be in the healthiest condition possible, but as you say you were fit and also a bigger women.
I imagine if/when I get preg again, that I'll also be tipping those scales around 135 at full term...and that is a very scary thought for me!

While losing weight is a goal for me, so is gettting pg. I'm 34 this year, and to me (for myself personally) that is on the higher end of the scale to get preg, and also my partner of 6 years doesnt have any of his own children, so it would be nice.

Do you know if being overweight can be a trigger for a chemical pregnancy?

How tall are you Maya?

I'm about 5,9 I think? Maybe 5,8 1/2?

I'm not sure if it's a trigger for a chemical pregnancy, I do know that being overweight is associated with a higher incidence of miscarriage, and I did have a miscarriage shortly before I got pregnant with the gremlins, but when I had my d and c the doctor at the hospital commented on how fit I must be as my heart rate was super low.

I've never had any weight related health probs either (diabetes, blood pressure etc.) but am well aware that the older I get the risks increase, and after this baby, my last, I am going to get all the weight off again. I'd be happy at 105kg again, for me that was a good weight, I looked good, I felt good and I have really heavy bones!

I saw a GYN when we were having problems getting pregnant and he didn't think my weight was a factor at all, although I know with IVF you MUST be at a certain BMI.

And I was much heavier conceiving this baby than I was conceiving the gremlins and it was a one shot wonder so my weight obviously wasn't an issue!

I'm 170cm (about 5'7") and am considered overweight, well actually my BMI puts me at obese - last check I was around 87kg.

DH is also carrying extra weight and we've been TTC (#1) for about 15mths now - I did have an early m/c Dec last year but other than than no luck, though after recent scans it is suspected I have endo so that is the likely cause of our 'unsuccess' so far and not my weight.

Actually my weight has not really been mentioned in regards to baby's but I am conscious of it, so am seeing a dietician and making an effort to reduce the kg's as I have hereditary high cholesterol and as much as diet won't have a huge effect in lowering it (only medication will) it helps a little... but it will help in getting PG too I guess!

I'm a bbw and recently married, we'll be TTC towards the end of the year.
I do worry about my weight, I'm 5ft 2in and 92kgs, I managed to lose 10kilos 18 months ago with WW but I've put most of that back on.

I do worry that pregnancy will push my weight over the 100kg mark which combined with my age (34) could put me at risk of diabetes etc.
So my goal is to get down to 80 by the end of the year, so I feel healthier in pregnancy.

Having said that, I've seen some of the larger ladies on here, have only put on a small amount of weight (less than 5kg) their whole pregnancy.

Hey im 5'4 and was 106kg before trying, we started trying and I was eating healthy and doing walking and stuff and lost 5kg in Jan and thats when we got pregnant so i dont think weight has got anything todo with getting pregnant or not (drs wouldnt agree with me) I think its all got to do with what you eat and if you exercise which doesnt mean to be skinny and fit, just healthy!!!

Thats just my lil import......

We've been TTC #3 for about 9 months and have not had any success. I'm also 40 so think that it is probably being 40 that is more of the problem rather than the weight. Can't do anything about the age but can do something about the weight so have been dieting for about 10 weeks now and have lost 10kgs.

was 5,7 and weighed 98.2kgs
now 5,7 and weight 89kgs

I would say for my previous pregnancies (aged 35 and 37) I was about 90kgs. Didn't put must more weight when I was pregnant.

I have found that because of the dieting I'm sure this has messed my cycles up a bit so hopefully as it has been a couple of months now this cycle is back to normal.

I think it would be worse for you cycle if your weight yo-yo ed

I've been very conscious of my weight this pregnancy and have only put on 6kg so far, a lot of that was early on, my weight has kind of tapered off in the last couple of months and I'm hoping to keep control of it in the last few months to make my life easier after bub arrives.

I am a larger lass as well, we are TTC at the mo and I am all to aware of my weight. I am doing a 13wk challenge at the gym so I am hopefull that I will atleast 10kgs and when I do become pregnant I hope not to put much more than this on. I always have doubts if I am being selfish by trying to have a baby while being the size I am but at the end of the day I wont be the 1st larger gal to have a baby and I wont be the last.

I'm here too, and starting to worry that my weight will keep me from concieving I'm trying to balance out the weight by going to the gym 3-4 times a week and working my ass off, but I'm not actually trying to lose weight.

LeeLee - I've had those feelings too, as well as guilt because I won't be able to be a SAHM, and that we don't own our own home yet. It seems if there's a potential to feel guilty, I'll jump on the bandwagon!!

Gee thought I was the only one, I was 76kg when I got pregnant last time and 62kg a year before that and went right up to 120kg by the time I gave birth. eek I was shocked. I am at 105kg now and that is through diet and excercise for the last 10 months, it feels like I will never be small again. I am going to continue to eat really healthy and step up the excercise through this ttc time and pregnancy with a goal NOT TO GAIN 40 odd kg lol. Plus I had a gigantic baby and I dnt want that problem again either. I wondered if it was why I had my m/c as well I am reasonably tall but would like to be around 75-80 again (I am not hoping to get back into those size 8s any time soon ) I guess I just want to be healthy at the moment not skinny
Chicks DONT FEEL GUILTY some of us are naturally bigger no matter what we do, im not one of those people im just a tad lazy but trying to be pro active now! Oh and why is it that weight doesnt come off as easily as it did before u had babies. I used to be able to drop 10kg at the click of the fingers for an event, it takes me weeks to lose 1kg now!

its not stupid but i think its not necessarily true... i was 106kg adn have had no trouble..i know sometimes weight is an issue but i think its generally more diet type things(though i didnt have the flashest diet ) ..not that I'm saying everyone who is big eats badly..that's obviously not true...

there arent that many complications with being overweight.. i guess high BP maybe but not a lot else just because of being overweight.. my complications werent cause of my weight..
