ok now i realise this first question shows how much of a first timer i am:)
I want to start walking daily with Ethan.. so that means putting capsule in pram and walking.. how do i keep the sun off him...the capsule and the pram dont join up so a strip of light gets in...to put anything over it would mean clipping it somewhere?maybe with pegs? we have a storm cover which obviously wouldnt work..so im wondering how I'm supposed to keep the sun off him? (sorry if this sounds like a ridiculous question)
and secondly.. Ethan settles well most of the time but on the nights when he have to give him his dummy he will fall asleep drop it and scream for us to put it back in.. besides crying it out(which I could manage if i had to but would rather other options)is there any way round that besides standing there? sometimes before he sleeps he will drop it and scream..we will go in and he's smiling at us once we get there.. so maybe that part of it is just attention..as if we stand there most times he will stop(though sometimes still scream if it falls out)
i just don tget it..sometimes he is fine..settles by himself no problems (like first sleep last night...) he was up at 1140 back asleep at 1220 till 330 then up till 530 no matter what i tried to get him to sleep:( up at 7 then straight back to sleep(and i did nothing different..(he's 5 and a bit weeks btw)
if we did still give him dummy what age can they put it back in themselves or put hands in instead?
With the pram I just safety pin a muslin or blanket over the top. You can get sunshades too.
Dummy - you can try very very gently pulling it out before he gets into a deep sleep. Dont know why they are so random with going to sleep, but funny cos Greer woke up at 1140 and 330 as well!
thanks for that. i will try...some nights he doesnt need it at all...it's bizarre.. and very bizarre they woke at same time..bet ya she wasnt awake till 530 though:(! he's not normally up that long.. lucky i had two hours sleep that afternoon as 4 hours isnt enough for me!:(!! far out Greer a month old already!
kawwww in the happiest baby on the block book it says to gently tug it (out but not all the way) when you first put it in ... they instinctively suck harder ... apparently after time they learn to keep it in
oh and we just peg muslin over our capsule

sweet..i shall try it...if i cold have found the book i would know that:)and i cant buy it online cause dont have credit card..maybe I'll look on trademe..
think I'll take him on his first exercise walk today:) we have beenout before but mostly to the mall...
Kawww, Bella is just starting to suck her thumb on a regular basis now meaning we dont use the dummy quite as much. She is still not that great at finding it though!
Tom never sucked his thumb but learnt pretty quickly to put the dummy in himself. But sometimes he will still wake and getupset becasue he cant find it (even though there are 2 in his cot). I walk in to find him pattting around for it with his eyes still closed.
I remember when he was little going back and forth to put the dummy in. I also found some dummies stay in better than others.
With the walking.. is there a reason you want to use the capsule? I mean if your not going out in the car that is? Did you get a sunshade cover with your pram?
my Dh said hes way too small to put in the pram..i havent tried it without.. ?umm i dont think we did get sunshade cover i will get one when out to get the NUK:) i hadnt been able to walk till recently so hadnt even thought about it:(!!
I use the NUK dummy as well - the sunny shaped silicone one and need a replacement and can't find the right kind... They aren't easy to find up here.
He should be fine in his pram by himself kawww - then the shade cove will fit - it is a bit scary putting thme in there for the first time, but Luke loved it - more room and he could see where he was going...
