    Posted: 29 May 2010 at 10:13pm
Caden has a tummy bug, he threw up last night at 11pm and then again every half hour or so, but just small amounts, his last one being at about 3am, he was fine all day, we just gave him small amounts of dry food and he had plenty of water today, went to bed and was fine.

I just went in to check him and move him back up to his pillow and he sat up and coughed and threw up again :( he seems happy again now and is still in bed(luckily I got him to a towel before he actually threw up).

He doesnt really have the runs, but not firm poo, just throwing up.

How long do these bugs usually last? when I was a kid we would usually just biff once or twice and be fine next day. I feel so sorry for him. Is is normal for them to be fine all day then throw up at night?
I was up till 4am with him last night, Im hoping tonight that was it and he and i can get some sleep!

ETA- We gave him half a bottle of milk at bedtime, so I think that was a big mistake :S...

The tummy bug we just had lasted a good 5 days. Jackson was off food and booby for most of that time and would only take boob when he was really hungry. I just did what you did and offered dry food, water and BF. Jackson didnt get the diarrhea until the second day .

The Dr we saw (not our regular one) said to offer diluted apple juice, which I reluctantly gave, and it was like 1 teaspoon of apple juice to 150mls of water, so next to nothing really. Although he said 1 part apple juice to 4 parts water.

to you. I hope he is feeling better soon, poor wee man

No, thankfully. The first and 3rd were the worst for Tony and I, and Jackson was only sick on the first day. The rest was just nausea and feeling like crap and the other end

Just keep the fluids up. My son got dehydrated and it was quite scary. Had a bug last year that went on for 5 days. That was 5 days of vomiting. He would chuck then be fine all day and then chuck again. He had heart palpatations due to potassium being too low and had to have extra potassium shots for 10 days. That was after the drip at A & E. If it lingers and they are not taking much in go to the doc just for a check up. Even if it is just to put your mind at ease.

oh thats so scary kiwi2

Luckily Caden has had lots of water today, and ive mananged to get some pamol into him for his wee temp, its only 37 but I wanted to get it while it wasnt too high.

If he is sick again tomorrow day/night then I'll take him to get checked on Monday. I think it was the milk that made him chuck tonight though, he hasnt been sick again since then(about 9ish) so fingers crossed he can sleep all night and is fine in the morning.

Hugs for you Sheza. I had a tummy bug the other week and DD had one from Friday night till bout lunch yesterday. make sure you avoid all dairy till they're better. Last bug we had I called Healthline and they advised it. Try to give cooled boiled water as well. Dry toast is good as are bananas.

Hope he's better soon

This morning hes had quite a bit of water and a bit of banana and some crackers.
His temp was 37.6, so gave him pamol before, he feels so hot :(
At the moment he is lying on his little couch/bed thing watching the cars movie, poor boy :(
No vomiting since the one last night though.

Daniel has had one recently. He threw up for 3 days with a temp. Then from day 3-8 he had the other end going. We had to cut out all diary from his diet until he was pooing normally again. He lived on cornflakes, rice bubbles and bananas for that week.

Oh I feel like an expert at tummy bugs, we've had at least 3 in the last 3 months.

sometimes I find they have a night of vomiting then the occasional chuck for a couple of days, it normally eases off as each day goes, then all of a sudden they have another power chuck.

My dr said if they are hungry feed them, anything they hold onto for more than 10 mins is good, so feeding straight after a vomit is a good thing, if he is anything like mine he won't want much anyway.

I also found it made him super tired and sleep was pretty good after the 1st horrid night.

Bad side is we normally find after a day or two of vomiting the runs come later on, and that seemed to last a good week.

Oh no, its rubbish when it strikes everyone!!!

There was one day, DH started with it, I joined in that evening and then DS, it was not a pretty sight, my trying to comfort ds covered in vomit, to then have to quickly throw him to someone else as the smell set me off again - not fun.

My DH was the same I got over it in 24 hours, he had it for about 3/4 days.

Really hope Isabella doesn't get it.
