Kiara has had a cold for a couple weeks now - one of the joys of having a toddler in the house. I took her to the doctor last friday as her cough is quite bad but was told that we just had to ride it out. She is generally happy.
Today however her she has done poos 5 times which is a bit unusual for her (normally just once every 5days or so). This morning was usual orange yellow colour and then each one through the day has gotten more green. Until the one ive just changed which was a dark green  (i put poos in the title so no one with a weak stomach would enter). Should i be worried about her?? She doesn't have a fever, still has the cough but is still very happy and content.
Henry didn't get sick (not even a cold) until he was around 8months so this is all a bit new to me. I would ring healthline but we don't have a phone here yet.
Oh and in case its relevant she is exclusively breastfed.
Someone put me at ease please

We tended to get green poos through things I ate or too much of the fore-milk and not enough hind milk. DS had poos that looked like pesto at times, and that was too much foremilk Plunket told me.

Yep, my wee man had this on and off around 3-4 months. It always worried me but he always seemed well so just put it down to the foremilk/hindmilk thing. I think someone also told me it could be caused by wind too - not sure how that works though!!

It is either a case of lots of foremilk (less fat) or something in your diet, but if she is not otherwise upset I'd try block feeding to see if it helps resolve the poo issue first before looking at diet stuff.

Ok thanks ladies. Good to know. I guess i was just a bit worried that it might be a sign of her being more sick than i thought. I am pretty confident that she is fine. Just needed a bit of motherly reassurance. BecM it did look like pesto

My DS was sick recently and had no real appetite so was only feeding enough to get the foremilk (for hydration I guess). His poo turned green too but is all resolved now he is better.
Also, I doubt anyone with kids is put off by the word 'poos' hee hee

lol tigerish it was more the descriptions of poos that i though might gross people out. Being a parent certainly does make different topics of conversation acceptable

Yip we had it too at about 4 months for like a whole week of green ones - more moss green though. It just went away by itself though.

my DD2 is 7 weeks and has a cold also she often has green mucousy poo which i am putting down to the snot running down into her tummy

ds had the same thing at about 8 weeks and I asked the PLunket Nurse when she came round. She said it could be the foremilk/hindmilk thing, or could just as easily be from being a little bit under the weather, or even from teeth shifting around in the gums.
So probably nothing to worry about, I would just keep an eye out in case there are any other symptoms.

Green poo can indicate sickness unless you've been eating a lot of broccoli or something like that. I'd go back to the dr if I were you as it sounds like she's getting worse. I did that with Nathan - first time, there was nothing, 2 days later he was worse and had a throat infection that didn't show up beforehand.
Check the temperature and keep an eye on it - a high temperature can dehydrate a baby. Keep up frequent feeds. 2 weeks is quite a while to have a cold!

How long is she feeding for at a time?
If she is blocked up she may favour feeding little and often in which case she would be mainly getting foremilk which would result in the green poo.
If she's blocked up you may want to try and aspirate the nose before she feeds and see if it helps.

Thank you so much for all the replies. Kiara is doing well now. Green poos only lasted two days and the foremilk thing made sense as she was feeding often. She now seems healthy and happy and is sleeping 13hrs over night so we are a very happy household.
Got her 3month jabs today though so hope they dont make her feel sick again.
