DS has just discovered he can move in his cot. He's not crawling yet but rolling and squiggling is enough.
He's also just decided he prefers sleeping on his tummy.
On one had I know he's over 7mths now and I couldn't stop him if I wanted to. On the, isn't tummy sleeping a hazard? Or is that just for new borns? Am I just the most paranoid first time mum.
Plunket only recommend back sleeping at any age. Im already tummy sleeping Aiden. I pu heim to bed on his back, but if he wakes I then turn him on his belly and he sleeps better like that.
From what I understand if he put himself into that position and can get out of it again then it is fine. DS has been a tummy sleeper since about that age too.
DD2 (7.5mo) is quite often a tummy sleeper - I'm not too worried about it as she seems far more comfortable this way and I can't be bothered with the fuss of restraining her in order to keep her on her back.

Ty did the exact same thing, the first night he wasn't swaddled he went straight onto his tummy (about 8 months). He's probably far more comfy on his tummy, I know I can't stand sleeping flat on my back!
Mac has slept on his tummy since about...um...3 weeks old I think.
Apparently the biggest hazard with tummy sleeping isn't smothering/suffocation as many people think but it's actually overheating. But as someone has already said, if he can get himself there, he should be able to get himself out.
some kids just like being on their tummy. My boy slept so much better on his tummy and he did so from very early on.
I think you just need to decide if it is something you are comfortable with. Remember as babies our parents were all told tummy is best so it can't be that bad.
