Hi all,

Have been reading a lot of forum threads from america where there have been cases of people getting BFNs for quite a way into their pregnancy, thinking there must be cases here too- does anyone know of this happening or have had it happen to them? If so, what were your experiences?

I don't think theres much chance that I am pregnant but anything's possible I suppose. I've had many many BFNs but I seem to have a growing belly and I don't know what's causing it so just exploring all options!

Thanks

Well I may be wrong here, but if you had low HCG levels to begin with and were drinking a large amount of water so you could pee then that would dilute it further, so it's possible the tests just didn't pick it up. Especially if you were using cheaper brands.

Are you able to ask your doctor for bloods? You should definitley get those done, even if in your mind it's not likely. Better to rule it out now than still be wondering in a month!

Good luck hun, I hope you get a straight answer soon!

yeah my mum couldn't get a positive result at all when she was pregnant with me - and here I am!!

Anything is possible but I really think your doctor needs to be a bit more supportive/proactive with helping you to figure out what's going on...

Yeah hun I think enough's enough with your GP... Perhaps you could find out Kebakat's GP is taking on new patients???? (if you dont mind stacey of course) and see if you get somewhere.

Not sure how much they cost but you could (if you have the money) go and get the bloods done yourself.....

GL hun, I really think you need to get a new GP ASAP!

Oh another thought, is it bigger at different times of the day? Is is still growing or has it stopped?

If it is still growing maybe you could start measuring it to show the dr....

I first noticed that my lower abdo was feeling firm and it wasnt muscle, then it started to stick out a bit, that was a few weeks ago. It's a bit bigger now but i haven't been measuring. Have been taking photos but had to delete my first ones as my friends were going thru my camera
It sticks out more when iv just eaten or needa pee.

I had a blood test done a couple of weeks ago but negative!

my boobs have been tender for about 6 weeks and ive grown from a B to a C cup (which im rather delighted about lol)

As for other symptoms, there havent been many- had a few bouts of nausea and headaches but no vomitting, tiredness i wouldnt have noticed as i would have put it down to my thyroid, and my eating habits and weight have always been quite erratic lol. Have started to have twinges up my sides.

Am looking into bypassing the GP to just get US done privately but i dont know if u can do that.

Thanks for bein so supportive guys, i feel ridiculous for even thinkn i cud be pg but i really needa know for absolute certain either way so am starting to obsess a lil.

Oh yeah, i went to Dr Russell at city drs, he was the one who requested a blood test. He said he wasn't sure what was causing it, and i could look into getting a scan or seeing a specialist but told me bout the costs and waiting lists and i just opted to have the blood test. result was neg so i tried to forget about it.
But then i was reading all those things on the net and i thought if it's even the slightest bit possible i needa find out. Went back and saw jade robertson who is normally really great, she told me it was just bloating and was really short with me, saying i dont need a scan etc. Oh yeah i also told her that id been spotting for the last couple months straight and she sorta scolded me for not comin to get that sorted out, prescribed me pills to stop the bleeding and sent me on my way.
Felt pretty stupid after that and, again, tried to forget about it.
The more i thought about it tho, the more i was sure it wasnt just bloating.
So its been rather up and down..

My actual GP is at orbit medical but it still costs me $61 to go there, so id rather just cut out the middle man.

Sorry very long and convoluted

My GP is John Geard (Victoria Medical Centre), he is excellent, I have no idea if hes taking on new patients or not. He is very up front though and it only costs me about $40 max to go see him (think the actual figure is $38)

You can go to Broadway Radiology and get scans done privately and pay for them.

kebabkat - you probably get that good pricing through the PHO scheme... when you change practices the new doctor has to enroll you under the PHO they work for, and the funding only comes through a couple of times a year I think - so there could well be a delay between enrolling with a new doctor and getting the good pricing.

This is what happened when I changed doctors, I changed in around August 2008 and PHO funding came through in January 2009.

Okay this will sound very strange to those of you who don't have horses but I used to know a mare who every summer, without fail, would get a phantom pregnancy. The other mares round her were either barren or pregnant, but she blew up to all proportions over the 11 months 3 weeks (that's how long mares are in foal for!) and then she would even 'nest', then after the 11 months 3 weeks she would de-bloat again. She even had milk and everything! She was actually used as a foster mare once so we all think she might have really enjoyed it. She was never actually able to become pregnant - very weird. But a lovely lovely mare all the same!

Hmmmm maybe but when I switched to them (as my old GP was in Bulls) I got that pricing straight away. Either way he is still an excellent doc and he was the only one fighting for me and DH when we went through our massive saga with Jared

I think it is a funding thing with orbit as they are a new practice- saw an ad in the paper sayin something like: the faster people enrol, the sooner they get funding. Just sux that no matter where i go its 60 bux I could probably still go to massey i suppose, as they dont know im not going back next year. I'll let you guys know what happens!

Just read about phantom pregnancy it's pretty freaky
It could be that except it says that the woman must believe that she is pregnant and i dont really.. just wondering/confused lol

ETA: i used to have a community services card, but im not sure what i would put if i was reapplying as the hours im working are all over the place atm. im covering everyones leave over summer

I wasn't going to admit this incase im completely wrong and seem like a crazy person, but what the hey. I think i have felt some quickening sensations, plus aches and tightening. mostly while tryna get to sleep. altho the aches up my side are in the morning.

Im not embarassed in front of you ladies anymore as you're all so lovely, so if it turns out im imagining all this its ok. at least i can be an example to otha ppl in the same position maybe.
