Topic: Evaporation lines? Posted: 09 February 2010 at 4:43pm |
Does anyone know if quick find tests have evaporation lines?
I am on cd10, but my last period was light. My dr has just given me some drugs for an inner ear infection and said I must do a test first just to be sure - I should not get pregnant or be pregnant while on these drugs.
I did the quick find test and checked after 5 mins and there was no line, so I took the drugs, I was telling dh about it 20 mins later and noticed a very faint line... is it an evaporation line or something else
Anyone got any experience with this?

never heard of quickfind, although I have heard of quickcard, quickstream, and quickstick (all the same company of course) Quickcard and quickstick are rather well known for evaps, but quickstream (the ones you hold in the urine stream while you pee) I have never heard of evaps are on... my understanding is that its because the window is covered, so theres no chance of the evaporation effect...
Are yours dipstick, cassette or mid-stream urine ones?
ETA - shocking spelling!

Sorry, I was getting the name confused, it was a quick card test, the cassette style ones.

Ahhh yeah. Dont read them after 10 minutes tops... they are awful or getting evap lines! Your best bet is to get a MSU one like quickstream, or discover, or first response etc (most supermarkets or chemists will stock at least one of these)

usually the rule with lines is not to read them after the specified time limit
If its a faint almost clear/grey line without any colour its most likely an evap, and will fade more over time, a BFP will stay , I can still see clearly all the lines on my tests with Ty (I did 9, yes, I know )
and on the evaps i've done , (god knows why i've kept them ) the line is barely visible and is more like a dent .
If you have any doubts , best thing is to probably get another test and test again :-)

Thanks, I guess the only way to be sure is to test again, I only used the quick card because the dr gave it to me. I will try with a more sensitive test tomorrow. I'm not expecting it to be positive - just concerned because of the drugs I took for the ear infection.

I think quickcards are fine when read within the time limit (I def wouldn't trust any result after time on any test), although they're not overly sensitive compared to first response or even better Discover...
There a quite a few antibotics that are fine to take during pregnancy so I wouldn't panic... I had a few ear infections which were treated with ABs last pregnancy
Good Luck with your testing!!

Everyone of my tests i did with quickcard came up negative straight away, and on my postive test the negative line came up straight away and a lighter line came up beside it. About 5 mins later it darkened and it showed i was preggas....
