Breast crawl

This thing is amazing!!!! We got shown it at the breastfeeding classes i went to when i was pregnant with my son (16months). Both our babies did this and it blew my mind. I have had brilliant breastfeeding experiences and honestly think that this was a contributing factor.

I had skin to skin with my last baby just recently, didnt get it with my other two, but this time i noticed he started the salivating like it does in the videos. I badly wanted the breast crawl to happen naturally for us, but since i was in surgery and i was having a few complications i only managed to have him on for about a minute, but i was still stoked to see him starting to move towards my breast and salivating also......

Yup was on our birth plan too... darn c-section! Couldnt even touch him due to have lines in both arms.. but as soon as I was in recovery he was put on my chest...DH forgot lol and kinda shoved him at my breast LOL He was just so happy we were both ok and tbh I had forgotten too.. I was just so happy to hold my baby ... a good 45 minutes after he was born!

With both my boys they put them on me while still in surgery (had to have c-section with both). Then on the way from surgery to recovery my mum and the midwife made sure baby would not slide off me.
It was really great as I felt a bit bad about having a c-section.

I watched that before but it didn't really seem to me that the baby was crawling to the breast by itself, more that the doctor (or whoever that guy was) was slowing pushing him that way so it seemed that way.

Maybe I'm just to much of a cynic. Both my boys went on the breast pretty much straight away, Spencer within 20 mins (c/s) and Kyle it was longer as I threw up and then needed to be stitched up cos of vontouse delivery and I actually felt too unwell to even hold him whilst they were pulling and pushing me around. Spencer was rooting around my arm as they wheeled me out of surgery to recovery and Kyle was trying to feed off DH but not getting much joy!

I had heard of it, but not considered it as an option to include in my birth plan, only cos I no idea about it, or the benefits for baby and mum.
I saw this post and watched the video 2 days before Aiden was born and Im so pleased I did! Aiden was placed immediatley onto my chest and latched himself after 40mins. I just told my midwife that I wanted to wait for him to latch himself . He has fed so well since, even the midwives commeneted on how easy he latches on and feeds.

My boy didn't crawl to the breast at all but instead was placed there. He latched well so I guess it more about them getting the option to latch soon after birth.

I had never heard of this and wish I had known about the breast crawl before my first, which he was placed on my breast.
The breast crawl will be making it to my next birth plan when that comes around....

We tried this with Mac when he was born.

Interesting. I didn't know about this but one of my main things was skin to skin & letting Cooper latch himself. he didnt' do the salivating thing but now days he "assumes" the position & starts moving his tongue & licking his lips. Quite hilarious & was unnerving but am now used to it. I guess at least he doesn't yell at me!
