I have just started my second AF since having Floyd (exactly a month after the last one)

My first AF was really really heavy, needed to change pad every 1-2 hours, lots of clots, flooded a night pad (needed change of pj's sheets etc  the first night so got up and chnaged in the middle of the night after that.  this lasted for about 4 days then was what I would call normal for another 3.

I assumed it was possibly just this heavy as it was my first one, yet this one seems to be just as bad.  My question is, is this normal or should I go and see my dr?

If in doubt, go see your doctor. BUT for me, that's pretty normal. My AF is 7 - 8 days, and some nasty person opened the flood gates for days 2, 3 and 4! During the day I wear a tampon and a pad. A night pad copes (just) if I change it 11pm and then 6 am - I had to switch what brand I used to get that though. In saying that, even before I had my daughter I was cursed with very heavy, painful, long periods.

I gather that periods can change quite a bit after pregnanccy regardless of what they were like before but I would say go and see your GP if it's a pain. It's probably worth it if there are lots of clots anyway.

Pre pregnancy I found the pill was the best thing for me - I went from eight days of very heavy, very painful bleeding to three or four days of no drama at all....post this baby...who knows!

Mine's very heavy on day 1 and 2, like don't go out heavy as i soak through super plus tampons in sometimes an hour, over night i set the alarm to get up every 3 hours and that's with a tampon and one of those overnight pads on. I get very painful AF as well tho it is much better when i'm on the pill. It got worse after i had my 2nd child, and when i had my 2nd my cycles went from 28-30 days to 21days

It has been normal for me as well. Very heavy for the first 1-3 days then slows down back to manageable flow. I normally have to change tampons every hour or so during the first two days. So very annoying.

I have had 3 or 4 AFs, the first few were NASTY heavy but the last one I had was a lot more managable so maybe they get a wee bit lighter after an initial mega clean out?
Very scary to go from mega light (panty liner light) pre pregnancy to super tampons and pad and changing every hour or so!
Hopefully they lighten up a bit for you too.

If it keeps up I would recommend going to the dr. I used to get really heavy AF before baby (up once a night sometimes twice a night) and was prescribed tranexamic acid. It was fantastic and just helped to reduce the 'flow'.

I would second the advice above.
OK so this is my first pregnancy so dont know what will happen after, but for several months before I conceived I had ridiculously heavy AF and doc gave me tranexamic acid. You take it just as AF starts and it makes it like a 1/4 of the flow and way shorter!
