Topic: Toys for 9months - 1year Posted: 29 November 2009 at 9:54pm |
Has anyone had any 'stand out' toys for their bubs in this age group? Like a toy or toys that have been a real hit with the lil ones?
Ty is now crawling/pulling himself up to stand and with Xmas just around the corner I want to replace his toys with super fun ones!!! (Like the Xylophone I just got for me... oops I mean him )

What a georgeous bubba!!
Madi is just about one now, and her fav toys since 9months have been a doll with a soft body and it looks quite real, she loooves emptying the peg basket and then putting them back in, so you could try a toy with that kinda idea to it.
I don't really buy toys for Madi, she seems to find heaps of 'toys' around the house. Like taking dvds from the tower and attempting to put them back, or discovering whats in the kitchen cupboards. Another one your ds will start soon ( If he hasn't already) is stacking things. Playskool toys makes block and barrels that stack..
I've just gone for the practical present, and am getting Madison clothes!!!
Good luck, HTH

We're not quite at that age yet but my nephew turned one not long ago and he loves his ball popper! The other toy he loves is the tumbletop/ball spinner toy where you push the button/handle on top and the balls inside spin around.
They're two that I can think of that I've seen my nephew with. Good luck though! I love shopping for toys!!

Callum is really into things with wheels - mostly because he likes to spin them round over and over and over again! Also pulling things out of boxes - so I've made him a toy with an old wipes box (with a pop up lid) and some squares of muslin. Keeps him entertained for ages
For Christmas Callum is getting a wooden train set (more for me lol), a big box of pretend food, a wooden trolley/cart to push around and lots of books. His birthday is coming up in December as well and for that he's getting some special books and a personalised CD. I know he's going to get spoilt rotten by friends and family so trying to steer clear of plastic, noisy toys
Oh the other thing he is really into at the moment is finger puppets (we play with them together).

J and his cousin love building towers and knocking them down, wooden blocks and duplo is good.
And he's really getting into stacking, you can get the F-P or playschool toy which is a round ball then separates to build a tower, or just use plastic cups which works quite well.

Lil miss got the Fisher Price Amazing Animals boat for Xmas from my parents when she was 5mths, and it's been such a great entertainer - when she was crawling, she would push it around the floor on her knees, and now she loves singing along to the music and putting the animals in and out.

I was thinking of getting my DS a stride to ride or something similar. I have a lot of toys and things from my DD so do not have a lot to buy on the toys side of things. Shape sorta's are great for this age range, that's probably what I would get if I did not already have one.

Hollie got one of these for her first birthday, and she loves pulling herself up on it and fiddling with the beads

Ball popper! Its a huge hit in our house. DS got it at about 9 months or a year and its still his favourite toy. All the kids that come and play are aged between 1 and 6 and they all love it. Good investment!

The ball popper is also a big hit. At the moment the twins like to try and eat it but when the music is on and the balls are popping there faces just light up. The older kids also love it. They also like the little tikes piano - they hit their hands on the keys and make 'music'.
We've also joined up to the local toy library which has been great. They have exersaucers, big range of cars and toys for all ages (under 6). Have you looked into anything like that?

Rosee, if Ty likes the xylophone, try other musical things. Cam has just figured out how to blow into his recorder! His other favourite thing to do at the moment is to knock down a tower of square blocks that I've stacked. For Christmas, I've bought one fo those nail pop-up things, with a plastic hammer - when you hit one, another pops up!

Cooper's really into chasing balls around. He's got one he can squish a bit and hold. Stacking cups he can bash together.
I just pulled out this little fisher price dial phone with eyes & he think that's cool to dial but he's uses his finger to point with a lot.
He's also really into books!
Also TV remotes, Cellphones, House phones.
