Chemical Pregnancy

Hello all,

well I had my first ever BFP last wednesday only for it to turn to a BFN on Sunday and started bleeding on Monday....so long story but the doc said that I should expect to bleed longer and heavier than a regular period but this is CD2 and im already ligtening up? what have others experiences been of this?

next question is when do i ovulate this cycle? CD16 as per normal or earlier because i was 3 days "late" starting my period?

T41st, I too am so sorry you have to go through this..
When I had my MC I started bleeding at about 6 and a half weeks, and I had 2 days of bleeding (like normal AF type bleeding, not "heavy" just normal medium flow) and then 2 or 3 days of spotting after that. They told me to wait for the cramps and gave me codine and other pain killers in preparation but I never needed them...
However everyone is different, and thats just my experience and I dont know how different it is with a chem preg compared to an early MC...
As for the cycle, I highly recommend charting.. my first cycle was 45 days, the 2nd 37, and the 3rd would have been 31 (I have a long LP and oved on CD16). However I have a friend who MC at 6ish weeks, had a 28 day cycle, got PG then MC again, and had another 28 day cycle, then had a beautiful wee boy, so unfortunately everyone is different here too.
Just my 2 cents, but I would chart till you see you have oved and then give it up if you dont want to chart again.
Also if you wanted to start taking Vitex, it should help to sort you out quicker (if thats what your wanting)

Thanks ladies, i thought i was doing ok, even came back to uni but so far two people have attempted to talk to me and i just keep bursting into tears...so maybe ill go home...this is harder than i thought...

Thanks Buttersmum, I keep telling myself that this was just meant to be because there was something wrong with my lil bean...but I also think I should take some time out and do something nice for myself instead of pretending I am ok...when im not....at least not yet....bring on that BFP!

Sorry to see you left August 2010 thread too T41, I think the same thing may have happened to me (After the whopper of an 'af' I have had, it doesnt make sense that it was just an evap line as I was also late and other tests done after came up pretty clear BFN)

I did have 2 chem pregnancies the year before I got preg with DD and the assumption after getting DP tested (he had some really bad results) is that the embryo was not good enough to implant and grow properly... in most cases a miscarriage is natures way of 'aborting' (hate the word, but for lack of a better term) an embryo that cant grow into a healthy baby... it was the only thing that kept me going at the time

Anywho... to answer the question atr hand, I ovulated as per normal afterwards (i.e CD12 which has always been my normal time) and AF was bang on time both times.

Again, sorry to hear you have had to go through this, and hope your next bfp stays and grows for the whole 9 months into a healthy bub!

I had a chemical pregnancy in May. My AF came on the normal day and was pretty usual, but the next cycle was a couple of days longer and that AF was a bit heavier. I guess we are all a bit different though.

I did get really sore bbs, which was also my first sign with my pregnancy in June/July as well (which I mc'd at 8 weeks). That was why I tested. Got BFP the first day, but BFN's the following two days.

Take your time to get through the next few days/weeks and let yourself cry when you need to.

I had exactly the same thing happen the cycle before this little one stuck.

I had 3 HPTs come up with lines, had all the symptoms, tender breasts, frequent urination etc then 3 days later I had a blood test and BFN and then af started. It was lighter than normal but my usual 3 days.

Its heart breaking because you know in your heart you were pregnant, even if it was only for a moment or two. I also found it embarassing because you have told people and you feel silly for getting so excited so soon but the ladies on here were nothing but supportive and looks like you have the same thing. Grieve for your loss and like you said get right back on that horse, I like to think that your body is now ready for pregnancy and sucks that next wee embryo up and protects it.

you described it so well Tauris....i knew i was pregnant even if it was just for a moment and i will treasure that memory and i did feel stupid cos i told my BF etc but the OB ladies were fantastic support for sure...here's hoping the next one sticks

Makes me think twice about testing early this time around...the good thing I wont know when to test!
