Topic: When to start charting? Posted: 28 October 2006 at 3:42pm |
I probably should have just PM'd Mrs Charting Guru (Jes) but I thought I would see what everyone else thought/did in the past.
We have just had our beautiful Princess Caitlin and are reasonably keen to try for #2 in about a years time as I had a CS and was advised to wait least 12 months by my MW.
I had my first period start last Friday (just in time for the long weekend trip to the bach *THANKS FOR THAT!!!* ). It lasted the normal 6 days (normal as in - that's what happend before I got preg).
Should I start charting my dates now or would it be a waste of time as I might still be all over the place?!?!
Any thoughts?

I kept a list of my AF dates from the beginning of the year, intending to ttc in October. I started charting 2 cycles before we intended to start ttc, but we then switched to 1 cycle earlier and got pg first go!
I would say that if you track your af for a few months then you will know if your cycles are more normalised or not. If they seem to be a regular length, then maybe track 2 or 3 before you plan on starting trying, to check LP and Ov. Maybe 6 months if you have any concerns about cycle length etc - if you can take 6 months data to the doctor before you try, then 6 months once you start, that gives them a year of info to look at if you have any problems.

I'm going to start tracking mine again just for the sake of it really, even though we haven't firmly decided how long it'll be until we TTC #2. I'm pretty much expecting mine to be a bit out of whack, but it would be nice if they finally sorted themselves out !

U can start charting when ever you like chicka, Just be prepared for a chart mess i just had like a 45 day cycle haha that was since coming off the pill!
A new cycle starts as soon as your period starts. U dont have to temp till your periods finished aswell.
Any questions fire em this way

PS be aware most drs are against charting! So if u do try for a year and are unsuccessful u can choose to decide to take em or not.
PS fertility friend is good but u have to understand that its not exact with ovulation, this is where you will need to know exactly when you ovulate and be able to read ur chart etc. I recommend the charting course they provide it will give u a little insight
