I probably can't help - we just did it one day! She was just too big for her basinnet so we put it away and just put her in the cot. She was still swaddled though so that probably helped.

Yeah we did hammock to cot and did the same as Suqishysmum just put the hammock away and put him in the cot using the same blankets. He was fine. I think they smell our fear and act up for us sometimes. LOL

We had one of those bassinets that can hang in the cot so had it in there for a little while first, then just moved him into the cot. But like the others said if you have the same blankets etc they don't seem to notice I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having a problem going from bassinet to cot.

I started by putting DS in the cot during the day to get him used to sleeping in it before going for an overnighter.

TBH it was more traumatic for me as he was shifting out of the basinette in our room into a cot in his room so I think I suffered more than him - he was fine!

Hrm, maybe I'm making too much of a deal out of it. He's been in his own room since three weeks so it's just the bigger bed. I put him in there before just to have a lay down for 10 minutes and he seemed happy enough looking around.

I found that my DS loves the cot because he could look around whereas the basinette had the 'bonnet' part up so all he could see was the ceiling and the white of the basinette.

Transition was easy as we had the basinette inside the cot for about a week. Then, when he was having a very unsettled day, I put him in the cot - he was going to be unsettled anyway.....

We just moved Elle one night just before she was 4 months and she wasn't phased at all (she wasn't an easy baby so we were pleasantly surprised).

The sleep consultant we used for Gabrielle said there are a couple of tips:
1. Do it before they are 4 months as after that age they notice more and can get upset about it
2. Do it for the first time for a night sleep as there is less to see and they go into a deeper sleep.

:)

I started putting DD into her cot for day sleeps for about 1 week then just put her in at night.

Try using a sleeping bag that will still make him feel snug.

We didnt use a sleeping bag at the time, but we had no problems
