Topic: Spotting in early pregnancy..normal? Posted: 16 October 2009 at 7:56pm |
Has anyone had or heard that spotting/light bleeding in early pregnancy is normal. I have had very light bleeding/spotting tonight and am 6 weeks along. I'm booked for a scan on Monday to check things out but am just wanting to hear if anyone else has experienced this and gone on to have a healthy bub.
Thanks in advance for your replys

Mine wasn't spotting. I full on bled from week 6 (went to hospital thinking I was miscarrying) on and off until week 15. Many scans and baby has been fine each time. It doesn't seem "normal" but not uncommon either. And I was very anxious up until my 20 week scan. Now I've started to relax a little.

I spotted once at 6w3d and MC, I spotted this PG too at 6w3d but turns out it was just my inflamed cervix and nothing to worry about So it is most prob nothing. Cramps are a big give away as is bright red fresh blood...
Where is your scan Magoogoo?? Im getting one on Mon too

yup i got spotting at 6 weeks and then again exactly one week later. i had a scan and everything is totally fine. if you go through the due in may 2010 forum there was about 6 of us that had spotting from 6-8 weeks!! it was crazy. some ppl do go on to mc so id let your mw or doc know anyway but it does seem to be pretty common and turn out fine.

I had light spotting at 9wks only lasted a couple days, there was no pain and spotting was a browny clour, I had a scan the same day the spotting started and a good strong heart beat could be clearly seen, I haven't had any further spotting since.

I had spotting on and off through the first three months, nothing since then. Baby is absolutely fine, MW thought I had an "eroded cervix" which means the blood vessels sit on the outside instead of the inside (I think?) and that's what causes the bleeding. Common with pregnancy cos of all the hormonal changes. All the best!
