My son will NOT drink water! I've tried giving it to him in his normal bottle, in a sippy cup, in a different sippy cup type bottle with a teat...  He just won't drink it. The only way I can get it into him is with one of those droppers (like you use for giving medicine).
Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas as to how to encourage him to drink it? And how much water should he be drinking at 7+ months?

Gosh yes! My girls kept refusing water until they were close to one Theres not much you can do but persevere and keep offering it. I can't remember how many bottles of formula my girls were having at that age but it was still their main source of fluids. I think they are meant to get around 600ml of fluids each day around Tylers age. At around 9 months we gave the girls those drink bottles with the straws and haven't looked back they have never been fans of the sippy cup.
This may sound odd but we used to warm the water up when they were 6-9 months because that was the only way we could get water into them. I think they used to get a shock at the cold water because they were expecting warm milk.

plunket said yesterday to mix with milk (formula or breast milk) and slowly reduce it till they just have a few drops. dont know if its works, just what she suggested

We use a normal cup and a pump bottle! Lydia likes to imitate what we do, so helping her sip out of a pump bottle or normal cup seems to work best here. She wouldn't take it out of a sippy cup, or bottle at all.

Jake didn't take water til he was 1 either - then it was a straw cup only. I really don't think drinking watedr that young is a requirement since like Lisa said they get lots of fluid from bottles anyway.

Maybe try just leaving a sippy bottle in front of him at meal times - I found that with my little madam who wasn't interested she couldn't resist being nosey and soon got the hang off it.

Jarvis has just started using his sippy cup, he thinks it's quite fantastic, especially when lying on his back! The water's always lukewarm (since we live in the country it's all from the kettle!). He has a cup with a straw too but hasn't quite managed that yet...

Rosee, we use a sippy cup too, Novella thinks its grand even though she usually spits out most of what she takes in!
I would go with SquishysMum's advice and use a pump bottle - ie. you drink from it and then offer it to him.. Kids, even babies love imitating adults

I've discovered Campbell likes a pump bottle too! He's been getting frustrated with the teat on his sippy cup, so I've been taking the lid off and helping him sip from the cup. But he's also been watching me drink from a pump bottle, so I let him try and he loves it! Must get him a proper re-usable bottle (without the PET in the plastic) in a small size for him ....
