Yelling at me

My little girl is just over 10 months old and for the last couple of months she has been yelling a lot. In the last few weeks it has got worse - she yells whenever she is in the highchair if I dont have the food in front of her quick enough and then when she is finished, she yells after 5 minutes on the floor or if she gets bored (she doesn't crawl yet), she yells when we are out in shops or in a cafe, and in the last few weeks she's started yelling when we go out for a walk that lasts longer than 10 minutes.

She's always been very vocal and I've tried to ignore the yelling but its driving me batty. She has got louder and louder and its also starting to hurt my ear drums. Anyone got any ideas of how to get her to quiet down? I asked plunket but they suggested ignoring it which doesn't get me anywhere. Last time I went to Plunket the nurse commented how loud she is - so loud that we struggled to have a conversation over her yelling. I'd love some ideas coz I'm about at the end of my tether with it.

This might seem really harsh but I'm telling you it totally works for any behaviour that you don't like.
When she yells simply pick her up and dump her in her room for a little while (10-30secs will probably be plenty). If you do this consistantly she'll get the picture that its no fun to yell because then I get put out of the attention line. If you are out then simply say I don't like your yelling then pay her no attention or eye contact in any way for a few minutes.
I know often people think oh they are too young for this kind of action but I tell they pick things up way faster than we think.

Caden is a yeller I have tried it all and the best thing really is to ignore him, if I react he just thinks its funny and yells louder.
If we are out somewhere, like the supermarket, which is his fave place to scream and yell, I tell him that I dont like him yelling and I sometimes have to do what littlebug does and shush him with my hand.

Yeah I thought about hearing too.
Otherwise I just shushed Jake with my hand or stuck him in his room when he went through his yelling stage.

Hehe...I'd say asserting herself as well.

They don't stop yelling though but a least they start to understand inside voice & outside voice

I used to just put my finger to their lips and say shhh usually me touching their lips would stop them straight away. If you do t enough times they usually get bored of it.
