Hi

Can anyone recommend a good pregnancy test? AF is 3 days late and I am throwing up but I tried a first response test from the supermarket and got a BFN. It is possible that AF is just late but I was wondering if any tests were more sensitive than others.
I will test again in a couple of days.

Thanks

Don't use the Quikcards. I used one 2 days before due (morning wee), and another 3 days after AF was late and both were negative. I got them cos they were so cheap, and now I know why!

Bought an more expensive one (was in the States, so not sure if you can get the brand here) and it gave me a lovely big blue + at five days late and middle-of-the-day wee! Off to Dr today to confirm everything, yay!! Hopefully I'll see you in the Due June 2010 thread!!    Good luck!!!!

Awww tinkbelle! congrats!....but know that you've mentioned quickcards I'm kind errrrrr. My Af is around 4 days late...tested on day AF was due, using a quick card, came up negative (which I was relieved about because I want to lose weight, and then possible TTC #2 early next year) but she still aint arrived and now reading your story is making me anxious! lmfao. My symptoms can be explained by other things, and it's quite possible AF is late because of the surge in exercise I've been doing over this past month. Just wish she'd hurry up and come!!

Hi! I conceived while in the US and my brands of choice are First Response and Clear Blue Easy, though not sure if those brands are available here in NZ. I thought I might be preg and my husband got me a cheapie test that popped up negative on Sunday (period was due on Monday) so wasn't feeling guilty about the drinks I'd had.

On Monday still no period (and I'm very regular) so went and got name brand tests mentioned above and popped up pregnant plain as day. I had actually used First Response the Friday before (3 days before missed period) and gotten a faint line -- didn't realize at the time that ANY line, no matter how faint, means baby! Due in Jan. now. Good luck!

Is quickcard really that bad? I get them free from my sisters work. They have given me negatives everytime i have used them (4 days overdue). my sister said it can take two weeks to work? I notice when the result comes up a line starts at the positive bit but then slowly moves up to be negative Bit of a tease!

I used QuickCard test and got a BFP on 14DPO (AF 3 days late) so they do work!

I used a QuickCard on the day my AF was due (so 13DPO) and it wasn't even FMU and it came up with a BFP...this was back in January though, so unless something has changed...

I don't think quick cards that bad from my experience as long as you're in no rush to find out... I got positive on them a few days after First Response... and make sure you read them within the 5 minute time frame as they seem to be susceptible to evaps after time...

What exactly is this evaporation line? When i did a test last night, i swear there were two lines but then the positive one went away and the negative one was left. tried a first response plus test and got a BFN Im at 4 days overdue now.

My sister seems to think that with some woman it can take up to 2 weeks for a positive result to show...... not sure what to think of that after reading some people getting positives after 2 or 3 days (after 1st day missed AF)?

an evap line is one that comes up during the drying process and generally not within the time frame for reading the test which is 5 minutes with quickcards and 10 with FR...

Most people will get a BFP by 18DPO if they are preggo on the sensitive tests (which FR are)... however, there are always exceptions to this.

Maybe you Oved later in your cycle.... are you very regular?

Kirst .. My GP said that the tests don't work for some women for ages and that I should just test once a week until something happens either AF or a BFP. in this case it was AF its a bit of a pain though. I hope you get the result you want soon.

Hi!! I am a newbie and this is my first post.

My sister-in-law said she was 10 days late before she got a BFP but then some people people say they get a BFP after only a few days. I think it just depends on the person as everyone is different.

We've been trying since May but I only really just sussed out the timing. Never really paid attention to cycle length until now!!

My last cycle I was 7 days late and I was utterly convinced I was pregnant but never got the BFP I was hoping for. When I did get AF it was a nasty one too. Sometimes mother nature just sucks! Ah well, back to square one.
