Topic: Paranoid? Posted: 15 October 2006 at 8:20pm |
This probably isn't in the right section, but I wasn't sure where else to put it !
Ideally DH and I want a somewhat "larger" gap between Erin and baby #2, 1-2 years or so.
The reason for my post however, is that I *still* haven't had my period back, and I stopped breastfeeding her at four weeks old. For part of that time and for the first couple of weeks bottle feeding I was on the mini pill, but have since come off it - Erin is three months now.
My cycles pre-pg weren't exactly regular, I blame having previously been on the depo shot for that ! But yeah, I have been wondering whether or not it is a bit "paranoid" of me to be worried that my period hasn't shown up yet.
A few weeks ago I had some bleeding that was typical of a period, but it was still within the timeframe to be post partum / lochia and now I reckon that *is* what it was...
So what are your thoughts ladies ??

Yup, I'd test hun...even for your own peace of mind.
I thought it could take a while for things to get back to normal though, even if you're not breastfeeding.

LOL I figured you'd say that But the trouble now is that DH and I have joint accounts, and going out and buying a test would show up on our bank statements - he handles all our financial stuff since I am absolutely hopeless with money in general. It doesn't bother me that I don't really have my "own" money, but I don't want to freak him out if it turns out to be negative. *sigh* Again with feeling paranoid tho...

Just wanted to let you know that due to hormones its perfectly normal to not get your period so soon. Im still waiting on mine and i havent even ovulated yet my temps are all over the show so im not bothering with that till my period arrives. Test if u want to keep your mind at bay but otherwise its perfectly normal

Otherwise I'm not sure if your doc does this but a couple of times I've gone into the doctors surgery and explained I need a preggers test and they have always done it for free and thats without having an appt or needing anything else

It won't show up with "I've just bought a pregnancy test" on your statement though

I stopped bleeding after 2 weeks, went on the mini pill then bleed again almost continuously for another 4 weeks, stopped taking the mini pill and didnt get my period until 2 weeks ago, so had a huge gap in between plus actually felt pregnant but no, did test at home and at the doctors and definatly neg then of course got my period. So basically i wouldnt worry to much. if you can do a test just to be sure but it sounds pretty normal to me. Good luck

I don't have my own bank account now either. Why can't you tell your DH that you are worried about being pregnant and want to get a test? If you're in a relationship, surely you can talk together about these things? Not meaning to sound harsh or anything, but my DP is the first person I would talk to and ask advice from.
The supermarket has tests, if you just bought one from there, would he ask to see the docket to see what you had bought?

You're right meow, he *is* the first person I usually talk to about important things besides my mum... but seeing as how I tend to overanalyse things I arrived at the conclusion that he'd freak out at the mention of the possibility... *sigh* I'm going to buy a test this morning, and tell him after, I promise !

Just tell him you were buying nail polish! Hehe We have the same accounts too and I usually forget what I have bought so when I get grilled I just say it was "high heels, make up and nail polish"- that shuts him up quick smart (because its so ridiculous!). My DH just ignores me when I do stuff like this anyway- when I got our positive he wouldn't believe me until I did a 2nd one and when I had the threatened miscarriage he thought I was 'overreacting' and was all I-told-you-so when the scan was ok. Ahhh what a keeper! Keep us updated and let us know how it goes

Nothing to worry about!
Just to reassure you further (I hope!) I stopped breastfeeding Kiya when she was 6 months old, and didn't get my period back until she was 15 months old. So don't panic, it may just take a little while.
