I am but I only started a couple of weeks ago. Last time I didn't start until second trimester either.

I take just one at night = 1000mg along with a calcium tablet and my elevit and an iron tablet.

This is all as per my MW's recommendations last pregnancy. Though I *think* I am actually meant to take more fish oil but I can't remember

I didn't know they had Vitamin A in them? I'm taking 3 a day and now quietly freaking out and frantically google searching

ETA:
Ok so I take 3000mg of fish oil a day, and in this study they gave pregnant ladies 4g a day, so it must be ok.

I don't actually think they have Vitamin A in them?? Off to do more google searching....

AFAIK you can buy fish oil without Vit-A or Mercury in it.
I take 2000mg a day of the Healtheries one.
It's got the ingredients and nutrients listed, none of these are Vit-A

"Some fish oil supplements have vitamin A, D and E. It is known that excess of vitamin A can lead to liver problems. It is best to avoid cod liver oil and, in general, any fish oil obtained from the liver. The fish oil obtained from the flesh of the fish is safe, as it does not have any vitamin A."

Article

Ok so Cod Liver Oil does have Vitamin A in it but Fish Oil doesn't.... phew... so as far as I've read you can't take too much Fish Oil

You can get the anti-reflux ones. They're double coated. I recommend those because the other ones always made me burp fish and it was

I bought some expensive fish oil capsules from Hardy's about 6 months ago. They were mercury tested, and made in Australian from salmon oil. I can't remember the brand name, but the label was red. There was a warning on the label saying too much vitamin A causes birth defects. It was quite confusing, but I think it said pregnant women should not exceed 8000mg. Then it said that each capsule contained 25IU (I may have gotten the mg and IU around the wrong way).

At the time, I wasn't PG so I didn't take any notice. However since falling PG, I've swapped to a cheaper brand and it carries no warning on it whatsoever. My herbalist has told me to take the maximum amount of fish oil I can to control my eczema, however I don't know what that is. I can't find anything on it when I google it.

I've read the articles that say as long as the fish oil is not made from the liver it's fine, but how do I know it's not? This cheaper brand (Nature's Way) doesn't even tell you what sort of fish it's made from let alone what body part.

Hmm, I'm going up to the shops soon. I might pop into Hardy's while I'm there and do some investigating.

Does fish oil really help eczema? Have you noticed improvement?

Since I've been pg my eczema has tripled in size and gotten unbearably itchy, so if fish oil works I want to know about it

I was put on it last time for joint pain as well as the fact that in second trimester it's meant to be good for baby's brain development.

I didn't notice it helping my eczema though.

Jelly – I had noticed a vast improvement prior to getting PG however you really do need to take quite a lot of it. Like you, my eczema has gotten way worse since being PG, and my herbalist has asked me to find out what the maximum I can take is.

I ran out of time to go into Hardy's but I'll do it tomorrow.

Arohanui – thanks for that! I think I might up my dosage to 3500mg till I find out more.

i take salmon oil 1000mg so 1 a day.
I like this brand because it's just salmon oil and not other random fish or fish parts such as liver e.t.c

should take more ......naturalopath recommended 2 but keep forgetting!
Fish oil should make me remember!
