Topic: Not feeling movement Posted: 29 June 2009 at 12:35pm |
I know it's fairly normal for some women not to feel much movement from baby yet, but I can literally count on one hand how many times I've felt this one move.
I was feeling the fluttery tickles from Sam from about 15 weeks onwards and then increasingly stronger ones from 18 weeks +
Is it a posterior placenta that makes you feel less or is it anterior? When do you find out where your placenta is lying?
Baby kicked before and I was like WTF was that?!?! I wasn't expecting it at all.
Heard the heartbeat a few weeks ago and saw it jumping away at 12 weeks so definitely a baby in there.

Hey Renee
It's Anterior that you can't feel as much, or it takes longer to feel movement. I got told at my 13 week/NT scan that I have a posterior placenta so I would have thought they'd have told you then although every place seems to be so different.
My baby was throwing itself all over the blimin' place at my scan, so I know it's moving. I haven't even felt flutters or anything. The MW listened on the doppler the other day and said she could hear and feel kicks but I felt nothing, so must just be too early for me.

I didn't feel Jack moving until sometime after my 20wk scan, can't remember exactly when it was.
With this baby I felt the first movements at about 18wks. It was at my 20wk scan that I found out the placenta is at the front top of the uterus although as the pg has progressed I have felt quite a bit of movement. It wasn't until at about my 34wk mw appt that I was told to start counting 10 movements.

With these two I felt the first movements at 15-16w, but they were little flutters and I was far more aware of it. They never really became noticeable "kicks" until about 20w or so (and now they're godalmighty boots that move my entire stomach). I have a posterior placenta (it's at the back) so they said I would probably feel them earlier.
And I found out it was posterior at 9w, and it was confirmed at the NT (12w) scan.

I have an anterior placenta & it took quite a while for me to feel any movement (around 22 wks from memory). I was a little concerned about the lack of movements mainly because I felt Liam much earlier & I guess I was expecting the same this time round.
I asked at the 20 week scan where my placenta was.

This baby's movements aren't as strong as Rowan's at the same stage (and she was anterior) so I can go for long periods without feeling it. Weird I would have thought you'd feel more with #2 but I guess not.

I asked my MW about this the other day and apparently with a second baby it can take longer to feel movement as your uterus is "untoned" so movements aren't as noticeable as they were when your uterus wasn't pre stretched!
I felt kicks at 18 weeks with DS (posterior placenta) and some slight fluttering at 20 weeks with this one (anterior).
I got told at my 18 week scan where my placenta was.

Placenta was anterior with Jake and I could only fee movements very low and very high on the left handside. I felt flutters from 18weeks and proper movements about 20weeks. Even at the 6 scans I had between 20weeks and 38 weeks I could see him moving but not feel it.

I couldn't feel Gia's kicks til at least 20 weeks, there was nothing before then as placenta was posterior (sitting at the front). It was frustrating cos I felt Rico from 17 weeks. Jett was the same as placenta was at the front again. I'm hoping the placenta is anterior this time so I can feel the kicks earlier on!

Dont worry too much about movement yet. At this stage it can be quite erratic.
With McKayla I felt her at 13 weeks and could feel her on and off now and then until week 21. That is only when Grant could feel her.
With this one I felt him quite a lot later but more regular than McKayla. His movements is so much more different from her.
With McKayla the placenta was sitting in the back.
With Andrew it is sitting in the front.

I wouldn't worry too much either, I think with the second one you feel less kicks than with the first one... I know I did, maybe it had something to do with being busy running after a toddler, instead of being able to consentrate on the baby kicking?!!!
Oh, and I so know what you mean about forgetting about being pregnant!!! But again, dont worry as baby doesnt forget....!!
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy....
