Topic: False Neg?? (TMI) Posted: 13 June 2009 at 6:15pm |
I'm still breastfeeding my 10month old and haven't had AF yet, but for the last two weeks (give or take) I"ve been feeling really tender and "heavy" (IYKWIM) down there... I've also had a huge increase of discharge.
I was so sure this meant I was pregnant again, but tested last thursday and got a very definate negative...
Do you think it's a false negative, or should I go get checked out??

same thing happened to me...it was about 10 months when I got af back and I felt pretty sure I was preggers but it was af arriving... It's hard to know what is going on cos some people Ov before first af and others don't... so I'd do another test in a week or so and see... Have you had any signs of Ov?? ewcm? Ov pain? You maybe preggers and it's just to early to show... or maybe just your body gearing up for af...

Definately had EWCM - that's what first made me wonder about pregnancy... not sure about ov pain - never really charted or anything before so i wouldn't have a clue what to look for!
having said that the tenderness i've been feeling has been right where i would imagine my ovaries would be...
i wondered about the AF thing, but thought 2 weeks was a long time not to see anything of it?

I don't think you need to have your AF back to fall pregnant.
I was fully b/f Ella and I didn't get my AF back until Ella was 11 months.

No you definitely don't always get af back first - some people Ov first then get af back...
Are you get ewcm now as it is more likely you are about to Ov if that is the case... ewcm is produced by rise in estrogen which happens just before Ov...esp if you are getting pain around ovaries...But I could be wrong so def suggest testing again in a week if nothing has happened... Good luck
Oh and before I got af back (when my girl was 10 months) I did have a few weeks of feeling funny down there

Ooh I am interested to see what happens here!
I had the same things (when my DD was 6months) and a bit of nausea and so I went and did a test at the docs - came back negative. The nurse was telling me it was just my body getting back to normal etc...
2 weeks later and still no AF I did another test and was positive. I would have been about 4 weeks at my first false neg test.
I never got AF either - was my first ov!

Thanks for the feedback guys fingers crossed it goes the same way as alyxw, but I have a feeling it might just be ov... I can't beleive how little i knew about my own cycle before all this!
tenderness has pretty much gone but still have ewcm (although it's dropped off heaps) so i'm gonna try and hold out till next week and if no af then I'll test again
I'll keep you posted (do you get extra baby dust for your birthday??)
