how do you set a routine for new born when you have an ultra active 2yr old who never stops helping or cuddling baby and who always wants to cuddle her to sleep. I wake at night as soon as i hear her move so i can get her BF before Ty wakes up as soon as he hears her cry he comes in and tries to feed her himself....cute as that is at 2am its not so cute especailly when big brother doesnt want to go back to sleep and hubby is an arse and sleeps through it all......whew wat a mouthful.
I remember being in exactly the same situation, every time Maddi would wake Keira would suddenly wake and want to help too - great I guess all being in the same room didnt help.
I cant really think of any words of advice, except the novelty quickly wears off for the older one and it before you know it they are totally over it and are back to sleeping through anything.
Grr at DH, I would be giving him a big kick and getting him to help!
Thanks...she was born Friday after i had been told they where gonna induce me.....as apparently (didnt know this could happen) but she kept on engaging then swimming back up and it happened throughout me pushing too....little blitter just didnt want to see the world...........but all good now even though i still keep hearing a doctor coming up to me while i was pushing saying "now wat seems to be the problem?' wont tell you wat i said

Do you have a monitor? Or would you be able to hear Ty through the wall if he needed you? I ask cause the only way we could stop that was to close Dom's door. It stopped the sound of Issy crying going through to his room.
Having a doll for him is a good idea and he can bath it and change its nappy. When Issy was little I made sure that before I sat down to feed her Dom had snacks and water he could reach, and I had several activities set up for him. Including a pile of books within my reach because he always wanted to sit right by me at first.
It is so hard when the second one comes but soon Ty will be used to her and you'll get your routines in place and things will settle down. They both have to learn to wait for your attention and I think that is the hardest adjustment, not only for Ty but for you too.
P.S. Give hubby a sharp kick in the shins and tell him to deal with Ty for you otherwise you will burn out.
yeah his door is shut but the problem is we are in a very small old house so the walls a paper thin...i can hear him breath in the next room...ty has had a doll since i found out i was pregs that he does everything with including feeding...which helped heaps with him understanding why mummy doesnt have baby in tummy anymore.........he has to give her 10 kissies before he goes to bed now haha bless. last night was allright so maybe things will get better from now on...cross fingers...... thinking about putting him in daycare for a couple of days.........but need to find out info from winz first
