Amber, from looking at bump pics you have posted before, I would say we are about the same body shape/size. When I am sitting or lying down on my sideI can feel my uterus going hard, but I have to press down on the top of my tummy to feel it from the outisde... usually feels like a mild period cramp that goes from way down low up to my ribs lol. When im standing up or lying on my back I can feel it a lot easier... prob cos that extra layer of fat

goes down to the bottom, leaving more of the uterus 'exposed' at the top IYGWIM?
and lol at morbidly obese... I have been overweight for years now, but never lookd 'morbidly' obese like you see on weight loss ads, or the 'before' pics of exercise machine ads... I guess I must hide the weight well? My midwife isnt too worried about my overall weight as I have managed to keep the weight GAIN during pregnancy to a minimum (have yet to reach 10kg, yet with my first I had put on 20kg by 34 weeks alone)
Oh and I have been feeling cramps on and off since conception... they just seem to change the name of what they are as the pregnancy progresses... from 'implantation' cramping, to 'growing pains' and then BH... I think after TTCing for so long, I became a little more 'in tune' with what was going on, and would over analyse every little twinge or niggle... and even us 'bigger' ladies get plenty of them!
oh and that bulgy feeling, my theory is that baby was pushed hard up against the side that was sticking out, then a BH made the whole uterus hard, but it stayed in the shape that baby had made it... Mine likes to push her feet hard out just below my left ribcage, so when I get BH it seems to go hard and stick out a bit there, but not so much on the lright hand side... not sure if that made any sense tho...
