Hi,

My lovely wee DS is still wrapped and its always worked a charm for us, but just recently it seems to make him more cross than anything and I was wondering if this is a sign to stop.

How long did you wrap for, what made you stop in the end and how did you do it.

We have a very particular routine, wrap, glow worm, music on and he goes to sleep by himself, but now he seems more focussed on trying to get out the wrap.

Is cold turkey the best way to go, I use a miracle swaddle so he is wrapped pretty firmly.

Hi there! I kind of have the feeling, that if it is still working, then stick with it!!! ;) we only started the transition from wrapping when Tyde started escaping his miracle blanket and waking lots at night because of it. We tried the ideas of
1. wrapping one arm rather than both
2. doing a 'loose' wrap, that helps him get off to sleep, but isn't holding him tightly.
3. go cold turkey! ;)
You can always try naps first, rather than the night time sleep.

The above didn't work for us, and that's where the Peke Moe came in, but some babies will transition easily... hopefully your little man will be one of them!! :)
all the best!

Hi we stopped wrapping DD when she was approx 3.5 months I did one arm maybe a couple of times and then just went cold turkey for naps and not longer after that we stopped wrapping at night as well. She adjusted to it straight away as I think the wrapping was upsetting her, we used a miracle blanket, so as much as she tried she could not get out and she would spend forever trying and just get upset. I think I was more worried about it than I needed to be.

We have to get rid of the dummy now and I am still holding back on doing it, though hopefully it will be the same and I have worried about it for nothing.

Good Luck!

We stopped wrapping Jack at about 5mths when he moved from the basinette to the cot. I wrpped him with 1 arm out for a few nights, then both arms out but the wrap around his chest/body for a few nights then nothing. He was only wrapped at night so that may have contributed to the transition being easy

I did try one arm out a while ago and he just would not settle, so I guess I am chicken to try it again, so much easier to wrap and put down, although lately thats not so easy either so maybe I should just give it a go.

We went cold turkey out of the wrap last night!!

Jackson did wake in the night, and make a bit of noise. He sounded like he was trying to get out of the safety sleep. I ignored him and he went back to sleep after about 20 minutes of grunts and groans.

Hopefully it will continue to work. My thinking is that a few nights of annoyance now is worth it cos, like Finley, Jackson is really over the wrap. We've been using miracle blanket too.

I just switched C from his Miracle Wrap to a sleeping bag for his day sleeps. We went cold turkey straight into the bag. I'm too chicken to go there for night time because he sleeps so well! But C can escape his miracle wrap now too and has woken at 4.30am a couple of times with arms and legs flailing. He's harder to settle (than before) for his day sleeps at the mo, although having said that .today's sleeps have gone well so far so hopefully once I work up the courage to do it for night sleeps too it will go OK

Laurie - thats quite exciting.

Ok so did they still self settle? How did you put him down, we don't have a safety sleep, but he doesn't move much.

Well during the day I just close the curtains, read a story and pop C in the sleeping bag, same as I would've put him in his wrap. Then I give him a cuddle and his dummy and put him in his cot, give him a pat and walk out. Much the same at night (but still with wrap). Some days he has taken ages to get to sleep with wrap and the first time we tried it (a few weeks back) if he didn't sleep well in the morning I'd use the wrap in the afternoon to make sure he had a good sleep But this time he's been in the sleeping bag in the day since Saturday and all going OK so far.

Yeah, he still self settles, and I put him down unwrapped. Just did up the safety sleep tight and put a blanket over him.

Fiona, last night was fine again. I heard Jackson making some noise about 5am, but I ignored him and he was still asleep at 7:15am.

He's officially free for his night sleeps!! I am still wrapping during the day, just for a bit longer, as otherwise he wakes after one sleep cycle and he usually sleeps better than that wrapped up.

Well done Laurie.

Ok i am going to choose a day and start. I think he will do it at night better than during the day. This morning I heard him make a squeak at 5, but he didn't wake until 8am, I went in and all arms were out - and they must have been out a while.

I think he would takes ages to self settle during the day unwrapped but as of Monday i'm going to try.
