Topic: Headaches Posted: 06 May 2009 at 9:17pm |
Since last Thursday i have had a headache on and off and its really starting to get to me.
People and midwife have said that headaches are normal in pregnancy....this will drive me crazy if it keeps up especially at work being in retail often dealing with crazy customers and next week will be worse with a launch and late nights!!
Any suggestions on how to minimise or what to take. Doc said to only take paracetamol, it doesn't seem to have an effect for long

I went to my Dr. at 14 weeks as had almost nonstop headaches for 6 weeks. She took one look at me and could tell I was iron deficient. Headaches were gone within a coulple of days once taking iron pills.
Have you had bloods to check iron?

Not much I can tell you here but the usual keep your fluids up, I live with abottle of water beside me most of the time. Eat properly, try and rest, and maybe try taking elevit. When I was about 16weeks my headaches came back and I took elevit for about a week and that helped heaps.
I have a history of migraines so can feel your pain, and it sucks neurofen works a treat for me when not pregnant and panadol does sweet f all

Man, if you work where I think you work (from what you've said), I feel sorry for you! Retail is h.a.r.d on pregnant women!
Definitely check out your iron levels, as katep said. And drink plenty of fluid.
Look after yourself!

I'm dealing with this too. So not fun!
My iron levels are excellent so its not that. I'm just trying to drink lots of fluid and sleep whenever I can. And I'm hoping it will go away soon.
Thanks for the apple juice tip Aliasmum, will try that
ETA. They've been slightly less annoying since I changed from taking folic acid at night instead of in the morning, but that might just be a coincidence.

I got NASTY headaches in my first and second trimesters. Apple juice did work a lot of the time. And prenatal yoga, funnily enough - once I got myself there and did the class I felt 100x better and the headache was usually gone completely by about 25 mins in.
The stretches that my teacher got me to do usually involved sitting on the floor with my head resting on a pillow against the couch (face down) or back against the wall with a pillow behind me.
Good luck, they're really not fun

I have been told to stay away from apple juice as i am at risk due to weight and indian descent for gestational diabetes.....and its high in sugar even though its fruit.
I am just taking panadol every 4 hours.
