Today on impulse I bought tickets on grabaseat to go to Wellington for my sister's birthday. Then thought about the fact that Stu will only be 10.5 weeks old. Will he be ok to fly? Will his ears be ok? I'm guessing feeding to help his ears and keep him happy would be good...no one will mind on the plane will they? (will be bf as he won't take a bottle). I guess if anyone says anything or gives me funny looks I can ask if they'd prefer him screaming lol.
TIA

You will be fine! His ears should be OK too especially if you breastfeed. And I have found that
a) Young babies tend to sleep most of the flight
b) People are actually much nicer than you think about babies - and if they are not - well its THEIR problem!
I have breastfed on loads of flights now and nobody has given me a funny look yet
- Try and get an aisle seat and if he has a dummy - get a strap to keep the dummy on him. (speaking from the experience of climbing under seats to recover a dummy with a five week old!)

Yeah he'll be fine. Like Hayzie said he'll probably sleep the whole way. Try to feed on take of and landing (this basically happen for the first 20 mins of flight and last 20 minutes so unfortunitly that pretty much the whole flight) A dummy is good too if he takes one but judging from your no bottle statement it sounds like he may not. My boy never took to the dummy so he will still be fine.

Oh I traveled with my boy in a moby wrap while flying and he loved the closness to mummy and slept feeling all snug so that could also help too.

Thanks Yes I was thinking maybe to take him on in the moby wrap, he sleeps so well in there. And you're right, unfortunately he flatly refuses anything to do with the dummy!

Hayzie I can imagine dropping a dummy wouldn't be fun, trying to find things under plane seats is bad enough without a baby!

I flew to Perth with my girl at 8 weeks, and she slept most of the way there and back, so no need to feed during takeoff and landing. She cried for 20min all up both there and back thank goodness, so luckily I didn't worry too much about other passengers. I preferred to have a window seat, so I could BF semi-privately.. It can get quite cold on the plane too so I made sure she was well wrapped and held her the whole way
Good luck!
