Ever since putting the clocks back Hannah's been waking from her afternoon nap in a fit of rage.
It takes a good 15 minutes to calm her down, poor sausage!

We thought, at first, that it was because her body clock was still thinking it was dinner time, but she's not interested in food.

She has two naps a day; 9:30am-11am and 2:30-4/4:30.
It's only her afternoon nap that sees her waking badly.
She wakes first thing happily and will stay happy for up to an hour in her cot playing and chatting (heheh mean Mummy refusing to go in to get her until 7 ) and her morning nap is the same, lots of happy chatter.

I wondered if it was the neighbours doing something at this time that was waking her, but the last two days I've been outside around her wake-up time and it's been quiet - yet she still wakes in the same way.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Any ideas?
Teeth?
Nightmares?

Daniel does it all the time. I think he wakes up before he needed to and we just bring him out into the lounge and we have a cd of kids songs that we put on and he just lays on one of us all nice and quiet until hes ready to get up and get on with things. If we don't have that quiet time then he has a major melt down

Livvy gets like that if she has been woken also. But I have noticed that in general she is generally grumpier in the late afternoons, right when you need to get dinner done.

Caden is the same somtimes, he is fine when he wakes up in the morning at 7am and from his morning nap, but his afternoon one he can be really grumpy when he wakes up, crying and grouchy in general until he has has some food or a bottle. Im not sure why...but it sure is hard work when they get like that huh

Dominic often wakes up on the wrong side of the bed/cot and has done since he was about 12mths old. Usually I set him up on the couch with his bottle and In the Night Garden and after 10 minutes he is happy and ready to go again.

Yep, Tom is often grumpy after his sleep too.  He often either needs to be left alone in his cot to get his sh*t together or else we bring him out and stick wiggles on and he sits quietly on my knee.

Both of mine have had stages of doing that too. Try a few different things to see what settles her the best. Things that have worked for us are cuddles, food, drink or sometimes just being left alone with something distracting on TV.

If Lauren wakes in a really bad mood, its generally because she has been woken mid sleep cycle. I sit on the couch with her with the TV on and let her go back to sleep for 10 mins or so and she wakes up happy as larry!

Once I even laid with her on the couch after she had woken mid sleep cycle and she went back to sleep for nearly 2 more hours!! I managed to untangle myself from her and continue with my chores while continued her sleep on the couch

heheheh
Thanks for all the replies.
It seems that giving her a cuddle and singing/reading to her quietly calms her down - then she's off like a rocket again.

It's nice to have reassurance that it is "normal" and that she's just a bit of a grump in the afternoons

Hannah is also getting to the age where she will be dropping a sleep - sometime in the next 3 or 4 months probably, so a lot of parents try and get one big sleep as the pattern.

Amy & Sophie both go to bed at 1ish and sleep until 3ish (although Sophie often goes down at 12.30 if she has had a busy morning). Her morning sleep is gettin shorter - it was 8 - 10, but now it is 8.30 - 9.45ish.

Jake goes down at 12 and sleeps til 3 - just the one nap. I find that he wakes up soooo grumpy though! Sometimes hes fine but I agree with Peachy its like hes been woken up in the middle of his sleep cycle. I have to sit with him and cuddle and chat and rock and after about 20 minutes hes ok but still grumpier than usual for the rest of the evening.
