Topic: Midwives in Palmy? Help! Posted: 09 April 2009 at 4:17pm |
So I don't know anyone IRL that I can ask for midwife recommendations, so I thought I'd ask on here. I'd really appreciate some recommendations (or suggestions of who to avoid). This is all very scary!!
I'm due Dec 13, I think, so need to get myself organised.
So, suggestions please?

Lynley Allott is the best! But she books up really quick.
Kathy Symes is lovely but I don't know her as a mw.

I would recommend Kelly but after the treatment she has given Stacey I don't think so now.
Fiona McCrae if she is still around is good.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Thanks all!
I'll try these ladies first then. Is it ok to enquire with midwives during a long weekend, or am I better to wait until next week?

I have heard good things about Fiona McCrae as well actually.
I'd leave them to their Easter weekend

i highly recommend Jo Henwood, or her back up Megan Holloway. i had jo for my pregnancy until a week before our son was born, then had Megan. they were both awesome and we plane to use either of them with anymore pregnancies in the future :)

hehe, yeah I tried to book with Blondie but she was full up, so went with Maretta, who is awesome but no longer in the business, and ended up with both of them anyway. :)
Congrats new Palmy ladies.

Nikki Murtagh was incredible! I ended up with her right at the end of my pregnancy and she spent hours getting me up to speed (at 34 weeks my previous LMC hadn't done a birth plan or anything) and her backup delivered Jake. They were so great I'm def using them next time!
Hey y'all are palmy mums!! Come over to the meet-up thread and organise a regular coffee group

I've got a couple of meetings next week - with Jo and Lynley so will know soon hopefully. In the meantime I've got a scan tomorrow to check if everything is doing what it should and hopefully figure out what is causing all the pain

I am having trouble finding someone to take me on. Most of them are not taking new clients for Dec or Jan and being a first timer to all this I want to get it all sorted ASAP

Congrats Hope2be!
I've gone with Lynley in the end. She is so lovely!
The link lillibit posted is really useful - click on looking for a midwife, then recent availability list.
It gives you a list of who is available and I see there are a few with spaces for January. Goodluck
