Well - last BCP was taken on Friday so the journey begins. We've now just got to get our heads around the fact that it might take a little while before we get our BFP, but fingers crossed it is sooner rather than later.
Anything I should be doing to prepare?

If you dont get your period in a months time try not to get to excited. It takes up to 6 months to get your first period especially if you have been on it for years. I have learnt all this from experience lol my last period was end of jan 09.
Good luck!

Thanks both of you, I think folic acid is cheaper from the doctor so maybe I'll make an appointment.
I'm not sure what to expect re the periods, we are in no rush and had talked about coming off 6 months early but then I was told that you can be more fertile when coming off the pill. So I guess it is just a case waiting to see what happens. I'm a real planner so not being able to have control will be an issue for me I think. I hope I'll manage to be fairly relaxed about it all.
Good luck to all of you as well, I've been lurking for a long time and reading all your stories and some people really are having a tough time of it.

Perhaps charting and knowing when you OV can be your form of control in this situation?
Good luck with TTC

That is a good idea Tauris75, I've been looking around some websites this morning. I think I'll follow the general idea for now without being too concious of it and in say 6 months if nothing has happened I'll focus a bit more.

Folic acid is cheaper through the doc but remember you have to pay for the visit You can get the basic stuff they prescribe from the pharmacy for $10 for 3 months supply.
Good luck

Summerlamb - beware of best laid plans....my DS2 we came off BCP and werent going to "try" until 6months, but if happened then what ever..........but then we started building a house and bam the second cycle off BCP i was pregnant!! LOL
Of course im suffering from the other end of scales this time after being on Depo.......we wanted to get preg quicker and its been 15months..........basically what am saying is, dont be surprised if you get preg fast, but also dont stress if it takes longer than you think......we spend our whole lives avoiding getting preg til we are ready and then when we want to we expect to flick a switch and get one.........your going to learn a lot about the female body on this site
Good luck!!

Thanks everyone, I've learnt that this is just something you cannot plan for no matter how hard you try!
emz, I did think about the doctor visit and the time it would take me to go out there so I just got the folic acid from the chemist. The only thing was that it was 0.8mg and everything I've read says to take 0.4, does it make a difference?
Thanks everyone, you've all been so nice!

No chick you should be taking 0.8 as far as I'm aware. If you got a TTC/pregnancy folic acid bottle then it will be the right dosage.

yes thats correct. I did ask the chemist if more then 800mcg is ok also, cos if you take folic acid, the also preg vits sometimes it will take you over. And sometimes those preg vits dont have enough folic.........but apparently its ok to take both and going over by a bit with folic wont hurt you or baby
