Topic: cups of tea Posted: 19 March 2009 at 12:43pm |
this is the only caffine i drink this includes fizzy etc.....but the question i have is how much does everyone drink during pregnancy? with my first i was so terrified of losing it that i was a saint when it came to drinking caffine and eating the correct food........with this one im still having one cup in the morning (they are coffee cups and i have it rather weak cause i wont wait around for it) it was the only thing that kept the morning sickness at bay........i know one of the sideaffects was over active baby when born (so they say) but with my first and only having about one cup a month didnt make a difference to him........he is more active then anything i have ever seen.........so wat is everyone elses thoughts and what are you doing?

I have to admit with #2 I am alot more relaxed... I think the Foods side of things have gone over the top in recent years, i just watch what I am eating and make sure I get foods that I am happy with and if I am eating out i am double careful but not OTT.
I have 2 -3 cups of tea a day, water and the odd can of coke... in my opinion its my body and my baby and if it comes out active then so be it... probably not the best way to say things but i had to put up with friends being OTT and it drove me NUTS when they came round for dinner...
And I don't think what I said has made any sense... preggy brain!

I drink decaffinated tea which is nice but I do have a 600ml diet coke most days.
I think I was told that you can have about 1200-1800mls of cola for the amount of caffine you have.

American Pregnancy Association suggest you can safely have up to MAXIMUM 150 mg per day
here is a great link which lists most drinks etc
you will suprised to know that you can actually drink up to 4 cans of coke a day !!

I'm doing decaf tea while I'm still early on (I find the dilmah one just like regular tea) and I have 1-2 cups a day. Although given I can't tell the difference I'll probably stick with right through now.
There is research indicating high levels of caffeine increases the risk of MC but I think that like more than 4 cups of coffee a day. I'm just figuring I'll be as safe as I can without making myself totally crazy.

I've gone off coffee. My husband made me one (I used to drink up to 3 cups before I was pregnant) and I felt sooo sick drinking it, it was the last time I've had coffee.
But I agree, tea (so long as it is hot, not cool and milky) seems to settle my stomach...
I just have a cup of tea depending on how the nausea is and what I feel like. I eat and drink entirely depending on nausea and if the thought of it makes me feel sick that day, I don't do it :)
I hate this nausea :(

i drank probably close to 8 cups of tea a day before i was pregnant, and my MW told me not to go cold turkey as my body may go into shock!
I cut down, but still drank probably about 4-5 cups a day, and also had the occasional coke.
My DD has come out fine, and is not too hyperactive at all!

I can't stand the smell or taste of coffee since being pg, but I only had 2 mochas a day beforehand. Now I have a milo in the morning, and the occasional tea when DH makes them (he makes a good cuppa!!!). I can't do coke really either, it's something about the taste, so caffeine isn't really an issue for me.
Mind you, I'm fairly laxed about what I eat as well, just exercising common sense and avoiding the main things like sushi, deli meats, things that I don't know how long they've been sitting round....and heating leftovers till hot the day after and no later.
