We've decided on a boys name, DH suggested it and I love it so that one was easy. That was a couple of weeks ago.

I just asked DH what he thought of my short list for girls names and he turned his nose up at all of them I then asked if he had any suggestions and this is what I got in reply

DH: I was thinking of a name, but it's just a suggestion, you don't have to love because I know you'll hate it, you always do when I suggest names

Me: so what's the name?

DH: Forget about it, you'll just hate it!

ME:

dumb @rse!

omg sounds like me and my DH! omg he hates everything I like! On my list I have

Olivia
liliana
Isabella
Tara

and he has turned his nose up at them all, he doesnt hate them he just doesnt want to name our girl any of those gah!
The names he has suggested are awful LOL. With Caden it was so easy I suggested it and he loved it right away, this time its going to be so hard.

Men!

LMAO Shena makes me feel a bit better that the exact same conversations are being held in other people's houses!

My girls list is: (in order of favourites)
Renae
Leah
Sasha
Jenna
Sarah

I won't list the suggestions he's come up with as my reaction may offend those with the name

I love Liliana, it's unusual without being weird Not that the other names were weird! oh dear, I'll shut up now lol

DH and I have struggled with names too. More so boys than Girls. He has liked most of the girls names Ive suggested and we've narrowed the girls names to 2 which is great. But Boys, gah! What a PITA

I had decided long ago that my next daughter was Amelia , so DH didn't get a say .
Boys names tho, nearly every single name I mentioned he turned his nose up at , until I told him that if he continued to do so he could name the blimming baby HE gave birth too ,so we narrowed it down to three and finally agreed on this one.

He wanted to call our son Ryan MacGuyver, now I love the name Ryan, BUT I am not calling my son after some 80s hero with a mullet .

Men !

btw , if I can add my 2 cents (and Im gonna ) I think Caden and Olivia has a nice ring to it

My DH is definitely the same as yours Toni . I suggest names & get a firm NO back immediately . It is so frustrating so we haven't really had any discussions...   I don't have the energy!

Thats hilarious! You def can't name your kid after MacGuyver, he would get too much sh*t at school! (Probably from all the 30 something teachers)

We are not naming our baby after any rock stars, sports stars, TV characters or anything like that. Too risky!

Classic discussion!

DH is soooo not interested in talking names, so much so that last time DS was unnamed for about 18 hours while we decided.

I would mention names to him and his reply was "pregnant woman should not be allowed to name children" as apparently they were all weird.

Then his deciding factor was it had to be short and easy to yell (like a farm dogs name apparently )

This time I have mention some names from last time and he is starting to like them so that is a bonus but we only ever have issues with boys names.

I kind of decided on Jack's name by myself although DH didn't object to it. He did grumble for a while about me wanting 2 middle names but never gave any real opposition. I have my boys name and again he hasn't objected just hasn't really agreed. I have a girls name, which was one of my picks when we had Jack and DH hated it yet loved it when I mentioned it a month or so ago - go figure!!

Peanut,

That's funny about your husband liking short names you can yell out like a farm dog.

My husband is a farmer so most short names one syllable names have already been used by various farm dogs he has owned or known of, and he also jokes about not wanting to 'waste' a good farm dog name on a child!

Its the classic debate isnt it!!

We had a short list for both boys and girls, but once we found out that we were having a boy somehow that list changed?!?!?! Go figure. We had it narrowed down to 3 names, but waited until we met Oli to see what he "looked like"!!

I like really unusual girls names - DH just nods and says "thats nice dear"!

   LOL!!! Hilarious!

My DH knew from the start what I'd name a boy, so to seal the deal he sold me his soul... in exchange for him getting to buy the sound system he really wanted I got to name our son. Of course, he wouldn't have gone for that if he'd disliked the name (and I knew he'd end up buying the stuff at some point anyway), but still - anyone thought to try bribery? It might work!

And congrats on the boy, Kelly!! Of course I'd be offering you congrats if it were a girl too... always exciting to hear 'what' people are having. Yay!
Andie
