Hi girls,

I don't want all our friends to guess I'm pregnant just yet so I want to 'fake' that I'm drinking if possible. Any tips of stuff you've done?

Lime & soda, no vodka or virgin mary, not bloody.

can you be the driver for a few nights? For example say you are going on an economy drive and saving money by not taking a taxi?

Blame some medication?
all very sneaky, but I am sure they will still ask!

A friend of mine did the 'sneaky drink switch' with her husband - she'd pour herself half a glass of wine and walk around with it, while her husband drank his glass - then they'd switch glasses when no-one was looking so it looked like she'd finished hers.... I guess you'd only need to do that if you had REALLY suspicious friends!

I managed to find a place that had non alcoholic beer... tasted like the real thing, so only stuck to one as it just seemed too good to be non alcoholic haha...

But yeah I had drunk only orange juice during Christmas day and had been to few parties with soft drink, so straight away there a few raised eyebrows, or what are you drinking & why questions!!

Depends on what you used to drink I guess, if you could get away with 'orange and vodka" without the vodka or something along those lines

We've got really suspicious friends so I like that one Joscia!!   I think I might try that otherwise I was thinking about tipping some down the toilet when I went or just ditching drinks, but that seems like a waste of money - but could be the way to go at a hen's night when DH isn't there. Otherwise the lime and soda trick would probably be better for that :)

I was worrying about this for my cousin's 21st a couple of weeks ago, because I've chosen not to drink during the TWW. My best mate suggested lemonade in a dark beer bottle, and we considered taking a pre-prepared bottle in our stash of drinks (make sure its a screw top!).
But we ended up getting there an hour or so late (and without the prepared beer - long story!) and by then everyone was drunk enough that it didn't occur to ask what was in my glass - they didn't even notice! And they are generally a pretty suspicious lot.
Funniest bit was, at some stage, our (DH's) beers got raided by someone... how disappointed would they have been with lemonade
I've also used the "I'm driving" line around a few of my workmates. I live rurally though so usually either DH or I is sober at most events.

I used the "I'm on antibiotics" line.

I had a friend who faked drinking - to the point of acting tipsy.
So, of course, when she announced she was 13 weeks pregnant everyone was gobsmacked and REALLY worried about the state of her unborn child! Neddless to say she had a LOT of explaining to do

haha I love the acting tipsy thing, I'm imagining having to explain as well!!

I thought about the pre-prepared bottle thing too, might have to give that a go, but will have to suss out one that is screw top and not clear....

Lots of great ideas, now I'm excited about tricking my friends hahaha

I tried the "Im on antibiotics" excuse, but people never bought it - especially those who know me well!!!! I mainly just used the driver excuse.

You can buy Mac's ginger beer and it looks exactly like the mac's beer bottles. Everyone at parties always ask me who is driving home, when i say me, they look doubtfully at my bottle as in saying yeah right, you can't drive, you are drinking!

I used the "I'm on antibiotics" excuse. I was surprised it worked as I was newly pregnant over the Christmas period and it was VERY unusual for me not to be floating around with a wine glass in my hand, When a neighbour said I'd be alright with one glass (and yep, usually antibiotics wouldn't stop me having the odd wine) I said "yeah, but not with hayfever tablets as well" and fortunately people bought that.

Lemon lime and bitters (unless its the premixed stuff) is a teeny bit alcoholic actually....the bitters is something like 45% although you obviously are diluting down a very small amount!

I tried it once, and nobody bought it so we ended up getting busted at 7 weeks.

Oops. Never have been that good at lying....

Very happy for you hun.

I did the "I am having a detox" , people knew we were trying to get pg so I said I wanted to get my body in the best possible place to increase our chances.

Worked for me :)

Congrats Chelle, I did appletise or grapetise for bubbly, or I filled an empty white wine bottle with diluted apple juice. Worked great!!!
