My doctor gave me some Ultraproct suppositories for rectal bleeding but then I saw they recommend you don't take it early on as it could increase cleft palate incidence. I only used 3 over 2 weeks or so and not her 2 a day dose she prescribed. Now I am freaking out. What if my kid has a cleft palate and it is all my fault

Is there a number on the box/container that you can ring? It might be if you use it for an extended period of time that it's likely to cause problems. If there's no number to call I'd ring your doctor in the morning and ask them about the risks and if there's an alternative you can try instead.

Palate fusion (when the two halves of the palate join together) happens at around weeks 7-8 (from memory dredging up some old knowledge here), so thats the critical time. If you are going to have a baby with a cleft palate, thats when the fusion is incomplete or fails to happen.

I think from memory you are past 8 weeks Yo? So you should be fine?

So I would stop taking the drugs and get some reassurance from the phone number on the box and your GP (or perhaps a different one from the person who prescribed them)

I am sure you will be fine, its generally prolonged use of substances that causes problems.
