Topic: So tired... Posted: 06 March 2009 at 10:07pm |
I'm nearly 7wks and I'm so tired. I could sleep all day and all night. I feel awful and cant stay awake for more than a few hours. Is it normal to be so tired?

'Normal' is overrated IMO but yes... it's totally normal to feel especially exhausted in the first trimester. Growing another complete person within your own body is pretty hard work!

Completely "normal" hun. Your body is changing soo much. I found it really hard because your soooo tired but your body hasn't really started to show to everyone else that your pregnant. Rest when you can is all the advice ive got sorry.

Are you on Elevit, it provides more iron to cope with the baby taking it all?

Yes and no. I was really tired but it was not all from just being pregnant. Bubs had sucked away all my iron and B12, as soon as I had a B12 jab I had loads more energy and wasn't nearly as tired.

Oh that's makes me feel a little better.
Melnel, you hit it on the head. I'm so tired I just want to cry! If I could crawl under a rock and sleep for the next five weeks or so I would be so happy :)
What's making it worse is I have my MIL staying with us. She goes home monday but its been seven weeks of pure hell. No idea how we even got pregnant. I'm sure my hormones have made it worse but I really dont like her. Since she's been here she stepped of the plane with a really bad cold. Then fell and broke her wrist and ended up in hospital having an operation and then fell AGAIN banging her head really hard on the road. I swear sometimes she does it subconsciously as she just loves the attention she gets afterwards. Seriously her face just lights up.
Between that and the "oh my havent you put on weight" comments monday couldnt have come soon enough. I swear she must think I'm such a lazy cow sleeping so much. She hates the fact that we both hit the sack about 9pm as we like to go to bed early and get up earlier.
Oh for some peace and quiet!

It sounds like you are probably exhausted for a couple of good reasons then, not to mention the stress level. Bring on Monday for your health's sake, I say! Have you tried complan or anything like that to keep up your energy. Rest is great but you will need to eat more regularly as well.

I had this too- then I went back to 'sort of' normal after 16 weeks, now at 30 weeks- Im back to being stupidly tired again. Swings and roundabouts.
I felt guilty about being so tired all the time not doing much-
DP says to me- "what do you mean you feel guilty- youre busy gestating! Thats hard work, no wonder youre tired!" Always makes me feel better

Kitkat,
that's makes me feel better. I to feel guilty, have lost all interest in cooking and cleaning, just want to sleep. But like you say I'm making a whole new person inside! Tis tiring work :) I'd not thought of it like that as I guess it still doesnt feel real!
