Hey ladies,

I've started feeling some pain in my pelvic area (feels like ligament pain on the left side of my pelvic bone) since a few days ago, and it's only getting worse

I'm fine when sitting or lying down. Hurts a lot when I turn around in bed or when I get up to walk.

Anyone else going through the same thing? My MW suggested accupuncture, so am having my 1st session tomorrow - any other suggestion for immediate relief?

Sounds like SPD, there was a thread on this at the end of December or so. I got it at 26ish weeks and was referred by my mw to a hospital physio. There I was loaned a smiley belt (which I found counter-productive in the end because baby didn't want to go head-down when I was wearing it) and taught some really simple exercises to strengthen my pelvis. A lot of sites indicate that the pain will get worse until baby is born but I am 37 weeks now and the pain is better than when it started.

To me it sounds a bit more like round ligament pain (around the sacroiliac joint) - if it is over to the left rather than in the middle of your pelvis, although it is all connected. I've found the best solution to be a combination of things, a 'smiley belt' as busymum has suggested, physiotherapy, exercises at home, acupuncture and hot wheat packs. Seeing as osteopath may also help.

I've personally found too that yoga has been really helpful, so maybe looking out for a local pregnancy yoga class could be good too.

I have had a lot of hip and pelvic pain... ranging from sacriollic to sciatica... ouchy!!!

I saw a physio who gave me exercises and support belt to wear and suggested lots of swimming. I have been fine for the past month so I guess she was on to it!!!

I also have been doing yoga (normal, not preggy) which I think has helped, the focus for me has been strengthening my lower body for birth so naturally working on the pelvic area

Hope you start feeling better!

I was in agony on my right hand side down my belly and through my hip and leg from about 20 weeks onwards. Hurt like hell. Got checked and all was fine. It hit mostly during walking when i'd take the dog out. MW said to take thinks a bit easier as my body was starting to prepare itself. Warm baths helped alot. Doc said there weren't any real stretches that he knew of for ligament pain but being gentle and staying active and stopping when it got too sore would help.
