When did you first start noticing your waist getting thicker?
I am at 7 weeks and have not gained any weight yet my pants all seem too small around my waist already...at this rate I will have to buy new stuff sooner than what I thought I would have to. I am rather short and a size 8, does that make a difference?

About 10-11 weeks I noticed things changing, but there wasn't a really obvious bump until 13-14 weeks or so. However right now, there's no way you could miss it! LOL I think things can start to change pretty quickly though as your body is doing some pretty rapid adjusting to the influx of all the pregnancy hormones.

My clothes felt tighter at about 8 weeks and I needed a bigger size by 12 weeks. I had a bump by about 16 weeks that was clearly a baby bump... even with my extra padding!
Piece of advice, dont go for Maternity clothes for a while, there are alot skirts around at the moment with stretchy waist bands.. I am still wearing those now and they were MUCH cheaper than maternity wear.

My clothes started feeling tight at around 8 weeks as well, but you wouldn't be 100% sure I had a baby bump until about 2 weeks ago... up until then I just looked like I had a big meal! Also second the suggestion for holding off maternity clothes - there is heaps of stuff around that will work. Apart from a few tops (mainly for length), jeans and one pair of pants I am still in regular clothes.

Yo-
I am the same stage as you and had a massive panic about putting on weight so early, my waist is definitely thicker, I have put on an inch around it, and my clothes are tighter AND I have almost gone up a bra size. (see my other thread called Weight Gain Paranoia)
I am really weight and fitness conscious so these changes haven't gone down that well at all!
But thankfully alot of the fashion at the moment is loose fitting tops with leggings etc so I plan to wear these as soon as my own clothes don't fit.

I started noticing things were tighter at around 6 weeks....everyone told me it was cos of the food I was eating (which was no diff to normal) though. Now you can actually see the bump, albeit a little one, and very very few of my clothes fit me. My MIL went out and bought me some Belly Belts, which extend the size of your existing pants, which are a lifesaver - means I can still fit into at least my size 13 jeans!!! (I was a 10 when I got pregnant).

My clothes all started feeling uncomfortable around the waist at around 7 weeks too. The weird thing was that at about 12 weeks that all seemed to settle down and I could fit my clothes comfortably again. I think I may have had some bloating and fluid retention early on which caused it. My bras didn't fit early on but then fit again at about 12 weeks too.

If my calculations are correct, feel free to join us in the Due in Oct 09 thread - one girl has posted a pic of her baby belly today - so you can see you are not the only one with a belly already!
I'm sitting here with the fly undone on my previously 2 big shorts...
I'd recommend just going out and buying maternity clothes - there is a good sale at pumpkin patch atm.

Height seems to make a huge difference. I don't really get into maternity clothes until 20 weeks or so. My shorter girlfriends seem to thicken out quite quickly. I'm 5'7" by contrast, so baby seems to fit easily in my tummy space for longer.

I'm short and was a size 8 too - with my first pregnancy I had someone guess at 7.5wks, so thats how early I went out (and up a bra size!). By 10 weeks I was out of all my pants. I got some maternity pants and jeans and other than that wore stretchy waisted things .... and got tops one size bigger so they fitted me for longer, or really stretchy /long tops. I didn't need proper maternity tops til close to the last trimester.

I am also sitting here with my pants undone and at this rate I think I might reach 10 weeks with them, if I am lucky...I will soon be in my 'fatpants'

Yo, I am feeling exactly the same as you and can't believe that there are changes so early, I don't know how people manage to keep it a secret until 12 weeks.
I feel that I just look fat, and am looking forward to a "proper" bump so that I actually look pregnant rather than fat.

I had thickened around the waist by about 7/8 weeks. When I told work at 8 weeks my colleague said it explained why my belly and boobs had gotten bigger but I hadn't been b*tching about it! I'm just over 5' tall nd I've been told that being little there isn't really anywhere for things to go except outward.
Things had stopped doing up around the middle by 10 weeks and I've invested in some Belly Bands off Trade Me which mean I can get by with regular clothes for a while longer. By 14 weeks there was no denying I was pregnant! But I want to hang off from buying maternity clothes for as long as poss.

Belly bands are great - you can wear your normal pants for ages with these - and not a bad price, I brought mine from PP (they are quite popular) and it was great.

First noticed a change at about 11 weeks but I am quite tall. I'm 20 weeks now and really only got big in the last 2 weeks. It was SO sudden! one minute no belly, the next, POP! I'm still able to wear a lot of my normal clothes tho, Boobs seem still to be growing which is the most annoying! I think at about 20 weeks the growing belly slows down a bit?

I started thickening up from day one, but that was because I was previously working on my feet and then started working in the office so that of course changed everything I did join a gym about two weeks before I got pregnant as last time I started an office job I put on weight, so I am not so worried at this stage. I used to wear two skirts to work all the time and they started getting tight at about 14-16weeks so much that they started sitting higher and higher on my stomach haha.
Trade me is a godsend I brought a wrap around skirt that I is great and I can wear all the time and a maternity skirt that is the most comfortable thing in the world and as long as you have long tops who cares if your pants are undone. I for a long time have worn only long tops or dresses over pants as all other things ride up and its annoying!

This has happened to a few of my friends actually, I do think you tend to retain a bit of fluid in the early days, I had swollen ankles and hands too. Though nothing like they are now LOL.
