Before Mika was born, I was quite adament she was going to be sleeping in her own room, both during the day and at night.
However as soon as we arrived home from the hospital the house had be rearranged as there was no way I was putting her in a different room from ours. So at night she now sleeps in our room in her hammock. During the day though she sleeps in her pram (which has a bassinet) in the living room. She seems quite comfy in her pram and I though it would be nice if she can sleep through noise and in the light. Now she's had some very unsettled periods this last week, and I'm wondering should she be sleeping in her own room during the day?

When she does sleep, she still sleeps fine in the living room. (Her unsettled periods I'm pretty sure are the result of gas and camps, not of sleeping itself). Just interested to hear other peoples opinions on where their babies sleep.

Daniel has always slept in his own room from the day he came home. He had the odd sleep in our room when he was unsettled. He liked our bed probably because it smelt of us but that was fairly rare.

With Leah, she slept with us for 2 weeks, then she got too noisy so we shipped her off to her room next door to us, could still hear her through the wall!  During the day she slept in the lounge in a rocker chair until she was about 3 months then she started going in her cot for all sleeps. She didn't sleep through for 9 months.

With Joel, he slept in ourroom for 7 weeks then went to the cot, he was in our room for every sleep till 6 weeks then day sleeps in his room, then all the time in his room, he slept much better away from us, and was sleeping through by 11 weeks.

Had thought that both of them would last longer with us, but we started to disturb them so off they wen to their own space.

Jack slept in a bassinette in our room at night till he was 5mths and slept in a hammock in the lounge until probably about the same time.

With #2 baby will sleep in our room at night. I will play day sleeps by ear, if I think Jack will behave (i.e. not bounce) around the hammock then baby will be in the lounge during the day, if not then in the baby's room

WIth my first, she always slept in her own room but I was always keeping an ear out for her (even though we also had a monitor), so never had restful sleep at night, even when she was sleeping through the night.

So this time around with my DS, he slept in his bassinet in our room all the time. I moved him into his room during the day about 3 weeks ago, and 2 nights ago he started sleeping in his room at night. Found that at night with him in our room I slept way better and wasn't constantly trying to listen out for him. Also meant that I could BF him in bed during the night feed. Made the change to him being in his room at night as felt that we were starting to make him stir when we were getting into bed.

Jody has always slept in her room at night, in the bassinette until about 6 weeks then the cot. She slept in the lounge during the day until about 7 weeks then did day sleeps in her cot too. She started sleeping through sometime around 5-7 weeks.
Her room is right next to our and we have the doors open so we can hear her really easily without it disturbing our sleep.
I did worry when I got home from hospital that we may sleep through her tiny newborn cry but no way, we both wake up at any cry/moan from her.

I intended to have Heidi in our room but that lasted 1.5 nights! By the 2nd night I realised that it was not going to work for us so she was moved to her own room (right next door to ours) half way through the 2nd night. The main reason being I could not sleep as I woke with every little noise she made and DH needed as much sleep as possible due to the nature of his job, so it was easier for me not to wake him if I BF in her room and she slept there too.

She was sleeping 10 - 11 hours at night by 8 - 9 weeks old and still does but day naps are not the best at present regardless of where she sleeps, which is either in her cot, pram or on me!

Issy slept in our room at night till she was about six months old.

She day slept in the lounge .. in her hammock and then in her cariboo bassinette when she outgrew the hammock.

She moved into her own room just after six months but didnt day sleep in her room until she was about 7 months.

Number two will sleep in with us till im ready for him to go into his own room (and that definately wont be until after ive finished bf as its much easier if they are close to hand lol)

He will probably day sleep in our room (or maybe his nursery) as I doubt Issy will leave him be if he is in the lounge.
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I did it .. 41 kgs gone! From flab to fab in under a year LFs weight blog

Jayden use to day sleep in the hammock during the day in the lounge up until he was about 3 months old and then slept during the day in the hammock in his room and always at night in the bassinet then cot in his room...I sleep in his room and still do, I have tried sleeping back upstairs but its just easier if need to do a night feed or have to give him back the dummy etc...I do aim to one day cut those ties and move back up stairs LOL!

Tom slept in his room at night and for most of his day sleeps.  Occassionally I let him sleep on my lap or on a rug on the floor in the lounge.

James is in his hammock in the lounge for day sleeps and in his bassinet in our room at night.  He seems to sleep well in either (except at 3am).

One thing we have found in Jan mums is that around 3-6wks...bubs are pretty unsettled.  YAY!...NOT!  So that is something to look forward to.  But good news is it gets better around the 6week mark...boy am I looking forward to Tuesday LOL
