cut your babys finger foods??

So plunket have told me Caden can have toast and cooked veges and fruit as fingerfoods. but I forgot to ask how you cut them.

So if Im giving Caden banana, should I cut it into thin sticks, or little cubes or diced?? And same with cooked fruits like peaches etc Oh and veges.

And with toast, do you cut them into fingers or in half? I cut the crust off and gave him a finger but he kind of screwed it up in his hand and tried to shove the whole thing in hs mouth! So I panicked and took it off him and tried a bigger bit, and he did better with that but still tried to shove the whole bit in his mouth.

With the fruit I cut the banana in fingers and he snapped it in half and then went to put a big bit in his mouth lol so i eneded up dicing it but then he couldnt really pick the bits up cos they were too slimey

Some advice would be great please lol

With toast, we did fingers and Daniel did the same with shoving the whole thing in but he coped fine.

With most we cut them into fingers, for fruit we cut them into quarters usually so they are easy to pick up

today I  made Joel some toast fingers with a bit of marmite on them and bakes them in the oven at 150 for about 1/2 hr. Nice and hard, he had to suck them for a while and couldn't really get chunks or anything off.

Cool thanks guys. What a good idea about the toast!

Thats good to know Caden isnt the only baby that just shoves thing in his mouth whole lol.

Ive been giving him tinned peaches and they come in segments anyways so i could just give him one of those to munch on...

TOm still likes to shove the whole thing in.  I also realised pretty quickly that he could handle a whole banana uncut.

I did wonder about giving him a whole banana and letting him have a go at it actually, how old was Tom when he could handle a whole banana?

You could always give him the banana cut in half (round not long) and leave the skin on so it doesn't get slimey and he will get small bits but not chunks.
