DD who is 12 months old has been refusing to eat anything since Tuesday dinner time. She will turn her head away and cry and cry if I offer her food, and she won't pick up finger food either. She is very tired and sleeping alot, but fitfully, tossing and grizzling a lot. It's not the heat as we have a/c in her room. She will cry at the drop of a hat when she's up which is completely out of character so there is definately something going on.

She's ok with her bottles so at least she's still getting fluids. I took her to the doctor yesterday and they couldn't find anything wrong - temp is ok, ears, throat ok - best the doctor could say was perhaps a low grade virus or teething.

My money is on teething as DD is dribbling huge amounts, but she's already got 5 teeth and we've never had any dramas with the other ones coming through.

Any ideas? I'm taking her back to the doctor this afternoon so she can get checked again before the long weekend. I just want my happy, hungry little girl back

My guess would be teething as well. Jack is just cutting his 19th tooth and he has not always reacted the same each time. I would suggest trying Pamol or Ibuprofen. She might also be happy to eat cold things or maybe something smooth like yoghurt. Good luck

Well it turns out my poor little girl has a bad bladder infection They took a pee sample and the intial dip test results were really bad (traces of blood in her urine) so it's being sent off to the lab this afternoon for analysis to see what antibiotics she needs.

All I can say is never underestimate mother's intution - I knew there was something more wrong with her.

Oh I hope she is better soon, poor wee girl!
Good for you for trusting your instincts, I think that Dr's can be too quick to dismiss a mum's worry as over-reacting.

Aw poor wee thing, hope she feels better very soon!
I know exactly how you feel. DD got a urine infection at 14 months which spread to her kidney and we were admitted to hospital for 3 nights, then lots of tests afterwards. Luckily everything is ok and she doesn't have any ongoing problems.
